Spy - 2015

It was fun  very enjoyable, a funny action movie; too bad the trailer was misleading, I would have paid to see this in a cinema. I thought it was the story of a woman with no training at all, that decided on her own that she had to do something but wasn’t really up to it, causing over-the-moon-silly situations. Totally wrong! Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy, always funny) was actually trained to be a CIA special agent but decided to stay in her analyst job to keep working with Fine (Jude Law) because she was in love with him. When she thought that he was dead, and the enemy knew all the operatives true identities, she asked her boss (Allison Janney) to send her undercover, and she did a pretty good job! Sure, there are a lot of funny moments and she had never worked on the field before, but she was well trained: she could not only pilot cars and bikes (or scooters :-p) as well as Bond, but also planes and helicopters. She fires incredibly well, can fight hand-to-hand… there was a lot of action
I laughed at the beginning already when Fine had to find out the location of a bomb, and there was only one man who could tell him; unfortunately he’s the allergic type and a sneeze caused him to shoot the guy :-p
Next try: approach the man’s daughter Rayna (Rose Byrne) and this is when everybody at CIA thought he was killed.
So, Susan  goes to Paris first, where she saves Ford’s life (Jason Statham) by fighting on a stage to get Verka’s microfone (I saw Verka singing at the Eurovision song contest) to warn him that he’s carrying a bomb.
Statham is funny too, playing a mockery of his usual action-hero :-p Ford shouldn’t actually be on this job at all, but he keeps turning up to tell her that she’ll mess it up, that he should do it :-p
Next: watching the pictures on the camera of the guy she killed in Paris ( !! - could have done without the vomiting-down-from-a-balcony-scene yeuch) she figures they need to go to Rome. Here she meets Aldo (Peter Serafinowicz) who speaks with a terrible accent that I suppose is meant to be Italian… but I forgive them because at the end it turns out he was an English agent undercover :-p ok, that’s believable :-D
She walks into a casino where she has to save Rayna’s life because she’s the only one that can tell them where the bomb is - and ok, I know it’s nothing, but in a funny movie I wasn’t expecting to see a man’s throat melting yeuch. She has to save Ford’s life again, signalling her analyst friend Nancy (Miranda Hart) with Morse code to shut down the lights (a click and all Rome is in blackout, another click and all Rome has light again…).  After she saved her life, Rayna takes her on her jet to Budapest. A guy there kills the pilots and tries to kill Rayna, so Susan has yet again to save her life and also fly the plane.  After all she did Rayna accuses her of being an undercover agent, so Susan pretends to be her bodyguard specially hired by her loving father…
In Budapest she’s joined by Nancy :-p She saves again Rayna’s life from some killers on a car and follows them with a scooter, only to find out that it was an agent she knew who was double-crossing. Both agent and driver are killed by someone (Fine) but she doesn’t know by whom at this point.
They go into a club: to create a diversion Nancy throws herself on 50Cent who was there to sing :-p while Susan fights a girl. After winning the fight she wants to arrest her, but in comes Fine who kills her. He’ll tell her later that he had to because Rayna was there and heard everything. He was still undercover!
Susan manages to stop all the bad guys, and throws both the bomb and the diamonds (the payment) onto the lake: mission accomplished!
After hearing that she’s in love with him Fine asks her out to dinner, but she declines (for now) saying that she prefers to spend that night with the girls (well, with Nancy), actually because her bones are killing her :-p
Ford says he wants to go to Italy and Greece on a boat, not realizing that he’s on a lake…
Susan will keep working on the field :-) and the last scene is of her waking up on a bed next to Ford…
credits.
