1- A rose is a rose
Rusty noticed a guy following him on campus: it was an undercover requested by Sharon without telling him. A series of home invasions but no killings. There are two killings masked as part of the same home invasions team. A guy, Raùl, killed his girl’s mother and a man who saw him, then kidnapped the girl..
Julio just came back and everyone’s worried he might snap again, but he doesn’t. Sharon calls off the surveillance on Rusty. The girl had asked her boyfriend to kill her mother to be free! A sixteen-year-old girl! But then again, this happened in real life already, fiction can never reach the depth of real humans’ cruelty.
Ending: Andy tells Sharon “you know I was looking after your best interest right?” - “Andy, I’ve been looking after my best interest for a really long time, specially at work; I don’t need you for that” - “Ok, sure, I get it” - he moves to the door, opens it, then “so, what do you need me for?” - “close the door, let’s talk” ... :-)
Rusty wanted a story to write: for his journalist course, but at the end he chooses Alice’s story, and takes her picture. After a little suggestion from Buzz.
2- Sorry I missed you
Rusty asks about the Jane Does and Alice.
There’s a car chase, the body of Dr Justin Henson falls out just in LA. The killer is dead too. Justin and Randall both dead; they thought that Randall killed Justin for money. Randall’s lawyer had a daughter: Stephanie was Justin’t patience. He gave her antidepressants that can lead to suicide, and when he called five times he didn’t answer. Stephanie killed herself. Her dad wanted him dead.
Julio tells everyone of when his pregnant wife died terribly, then settles back at his desk.
Apparently Sharon asked Andy to encourage Julio :p but Julio still ignores him :p
Julio tells Rusty: “I’m not sure I’m staying”..
Rusty does an online vlog called identity. He goes to prison to talk to the guy arrested for killing Alice.
Andy calls her Sharon :-)
3- Open line
Christa is a top model. She is assaulted and beaten to death. Photographer Malcolm had sent malware to her computer, to try spy on her - and also other 42 women. He sent a compromising picture of her to her ex-boyfriend Felix, an aggressive MME fighter. Felix went and killed her. When they go to arrest him, Felix fights back and Tao has to kill him.
They arrest Malcolm for manslaughter. They make a deal, manslaughter instead of terrorism (Patriot act, he also spied on the police when he infected Tao’s computer).
Rusty is in trouble because he went to talk to Alice’s killer, but at the end the judge lets him go without troubles..
4- Turn down
They have a cake for Buzz: “congratulations Lapd reserve officer Buzz Watson”. Andy goes with him on his first ride, and Provenza too :-) and Sharon teases Andy in such a cute way :-) “don’t tease Buzz too much tonight, please” poking him with her finger and smiling :-) “I wouldn’t dream of it” :p so nice :) They all go, Andy drives because Provenza has trouble with the new car :p and all three of them are in police uniforms :)
Buzz moves to the front seat because Provenza can’t operate the car computer :p they stumble on a murder. Provenza would like to go and call it a suicide because thanks to Andy’s daughter they have tickets for a Dodgers game, but Buzz calls it “suspicious” and they have to investigate.
Funny scene: Sharon: “what else do you need?” Sykes”tranquillizer darts maybe?” Sharon”for the suspects or for Lt Provenza?” then she goes huh!, a sort of little laugh then she’s serious again: “don’t answer that” :p
Later, Andy”we might be able to still make the game” - Provenza”if you could ask the captain out on your own without dragging everyone else with you!” - Andy”dragging? It’s baseball. Who gets dragged to baseball!”
They solve the murder: the guy wanted to run away with the bride but her father couldn’t allow that.
They miss the game but watch it on tv at the hotel, and watch the fireworks from the rooftop. Sharon looks nice with the baseball hat :)
All through the episode Rusty tries to access Alice’s phone recorded messages, and right at the end he finds the code 3683, the numbers of the word ‘dove’, translation of the Spanish word Paloma, who might be her sister’s name :)
5- Snitch
Rusty plays a message for his therapist. Alice’s real name was Allison. There’s a murder: an eleven-year-old girl, such a pretty girl, saw it all, she says, but Amy insists “don’t tell anyone, you never saw me..” . She doesn’t want to involve her, I guess. She lies when they ask her how she found the gun - the little girl told her where it was.
Andy tells Provenza he wants to ask Sharon out on a date :) Rusty gets emotional when Dr Joe asks him what are his feelings for TJ :)
The little girl calls her, the murderer is there. Amy has to admit there’s an eye-witness, but refuses to give her name to protect her. They manage to get the guys without involving the little girl.
Rusty to Sharon: “I want to be sure you know, I know I don’t show it a lot but you’re way more important to me than any story I’ll ever tell, even about Alice” and she tells him how proud she is :)
Andy can finally ask Sharon out, at “one of the most romantic places in Los Angeles” - she says “romantic?” - “that’s how it’s described” - “fine” and she walks away, and does a cute thing, mouthing ‘romantic’ and smiling in that funny-cute way, and Andy smiling in a she-said-yes way :) cute scene.
6- Personal effects
Patrice wants to redecorate and Provenza goes all panicky :p
They have the bones of a rapist who appears to have been shot.
We meet TJ. Rusty and TJ get 200$ to move all Provenza’s stuff to a storage facility, because he doesn’t want to give it away, he likes it, specially the duck-lamps :p
Provenza asks him how the Andy-Sharon date went, since they’ve started calling each other captain-Lt :p The storage facility unit was too small for all that stuff so they brought it to Sharon’s home for a day. Rusty insists that TJ is just a friend, and he’s all grumpy about the fact that TJ’s not out with his family.
The dead rapist was an alcoholic, a thief... A rape victim received his visit, the 9th step to sober up is to make amends but he saw her son, realized that he was his son too and wanted parental rights and she couldn’t let him near her son or ruining her family. Still, her lawyer (Jery Ryan) probably got her out of it completely.
Patrice knows about the storage unit but is not upset because she did the same thing :-) They are rather perfect for each other, aren’t they :-)
7- Targets of opportunity
Fritzy! :) Two cops killed (why is it that some of them salute and others put their hand on their heart, when they took away the bodies?). Two more are killed by a guy in a cop uniform. There was a guy handcuffed in the back seat. They find him and he tells the captain everything. not real cops.
The Enrico guy is in witness protection - at least they will no more deport him. Rusty looked for background on a guy that knew Alice: Gustavo. TJ is helping him and seems to care about him but Rusty looks annoyed when people assume they’re a couple.
8- Hostage of fortune
Fritzy again. That’s ok. Agent Jerry Shea: I don’t like him.
Consulting on a kidnapping case of two years before. A young man, Kevin, disappeared, there was a ransom paid, the kid was never found. Pictures on the net say he might be alive in Brazil.
TJ is rather pissed because Rusty only calls him when he needs help, and in the last four days not a call or a text, not even answering TJ’s... When Rusty tells Sharon he’s going to meet TJ “for the last time” she’s sorry about that: “TJ seemed such a nice guy” and Rusty tells her that ‘for the record, TJ is a nice guy’, “I’m the jerk” :) at least he gets it now :)
The squad finds a body and believes it to be Kevin’s. Both Kevin and a drug dealer were shot.
We are back to them calling each other Andy-Sharon. :)
Sharon’s wondering if Shea is “crazy full of himself or crazy like a fox?” and she made me think of Barba :-) Gustavo meets Rusty. Mariana Wallace is Alice. He’s her older brother.
Kevin planned his fake kidnapping to get his parents’ money and he had three friends to help him. The drug dealer shot Kevin, I think, but the other two are arrested for shooting him. Shea does a press conference saying that he arrested the parents!
Sharon and Andy tell chief Taylor that they are dating. Rusty brings in Gustavo and Sharon tells him that Mariana’s dead :(
9- Wish you were here
The brother can officially identify Mariana’s body. A video goes viral: a man dying in the street, seminaked and with a gun, but he also seems to have a gunshot wound at the back of the neck. Actually he was stabbed with a screwdriver. The primary suspects turn out dead in the truck of a car. Two more bodies are found. A woman killed them because they “didn’t love her”
Provenza watches cat videos on youtube and smiles :D
Gus says Mariana ran away from her bad mom and stepdad, and now Andy offers to find Paloma ‘unofficially’. Rusty is still uneasy at the idea of Sharon dating Andy, it seems.
10- Fifth dynasty
The son of judge Ryan is found dead. His cousin, a teenage kid, has disappeared. Two bikers are suspected, one blows up Sykes and Cooper’s car. Three non-disclosure agreements signed by judge Ryan: her son Chandler molested boys. He also molested his cousins, first older Sean and then younger Henry. Sean went to pick Henry up and killed Chandler.
The State pays for Mariana Wallace’s funeral, and Sharon takes Andy’s hand, and Gus agreed to let Paloma stay with her adopting family until she’s 18.
11- Four of a kind
Four people were shot, put in an suv and dropped at a hospital. They were playing cards when they were killed. Andy gets hurt but doesn’t want Sharon to know.
“Illegal gambling”: really?
The driver’s son wanted to rob the players, but his dad was always showing his pictures around so they recognized him and he shot them: four dead.
Andy needs care and supervision, so he goes to stay at Sharon’s house.
Rusty gets approval to interview Mariana’s killer from Hobbs and judge Grove, and also has an entry into a better university: Ucla. The judge’s wife likes Rusty’s vlog. She’s “one of the most published professors in Ucla communications department, and according to her you should be reporting on more interesting subjects than digital textbooks”. Major in communications. He also suggests studying law.
12- Blackout
Jack is defending a man whose wife died. He was drunk, they think she beat her up, pushed her down the stairs and he didn’t call 911 for hours. Jack has a video proving the man was elsewhere, with Mary, his wife Lisa’s sister. He was violent so Lisa’s mom argued with her and pushed her to take the baby away.
Jack didn’t tell his client about the video, he was so drunk he thought he had killed her, and he spent time in jail waiting for the trial. Jack did it to sue the department after that, but Sharon is ahead of him and wins again. Jack is pissed of course, and tells everyone about Andy having serious health problems :/
Slader can’t read.
13- Reality check
A contestant of a reality show challenge is killed. Couples compete for one million dollars. The husband is at the hospital, along with the tv crew, but he escapes to go live on tv to talk about his ‘grief’ at the Mario Lopez show.
Flynn is still resting at Sharon’s home. Rusty is almost 20. Since Andy wanted something to do but can’t leave the house because he must rest, Sharon sends him all three seasons of ‘American Scavengers’ to watch... then they talk about it on her couch a contestant was humiliated on national tv, but ‘he auditioned for the show’ knowing what might happen. Sharon says “he was hoping to win a million dollars” and Andy: “not worth losing a relationship for, is it?” :)
Nobody knows why Julio is taking it so badly until Andy asks about him saying “a woman killed in a car crash after her vehicle spins out of control, that’s exactly how his wife died” and Sharon understands.
The show producer was sick of what the show had become and wanted that horrible couple out.
I didn’t like this episode full of fake, mean characters. Julio was touching though; at the end he explained the dynamic of the accident to the husband - Sharon’s way of having him deal with it and explain it to himself too. The man said “close call huh? Am I lucky or what?” and Julio “if you had been lucky sir, your wife would have gotten out of the car instead of you and you wouldn’t have the rest of your life to wonder what you could have done to save her”.
14- Taking the fall
Tom is killed. His wife at first is so shock that she moves around the kitchen as if in a trance.
Sykes reads the Wall Street Journal,
Rusty is about to show Andy his interview with Slader when he goes to wash his teeth. Hearing a noise Rusty finds him bloody on the floor. Rusty phones Provenza and he has Sharon pulled out of the interrogation room. Provenza sends her to the hospital while they stay to work. When they can talk to Andy, it turns out that he didn’t tell anyone that he felt dizzy, so when he bent to pick up his fallen toothbrush he blacked-out and fell. Now his condition is a bit more serious than it was before; the fun doctor says she’ll operate him as soon as possible. Later Andy asks Provenza to tell Sharon that he loved her, if he dies in the operation.
The wife said a man beat her husband and her too, then came back and beat him to death. Truth is, he was a bully and for years had beaten her. She had been waiting for him to have a promotion, then had beaten him to death with a crowbar.
At the end they bring Thanksgiving to Andy’s room but he has to go to surgery right away. It ends with Sharon looking while they take him away, with longing eyes, and talking about the case but in a way that makes you think she was talking about herself too, when she said that “she had every opportunity to say what she needed to say and she didn’t say it”. They are all there, and by the way Rusty and Provenza looked at her they understood too...
15- The jumping off point
Andy is tired of the hospital and Sharon wants to take him home :)
20-year-old Kyle is dead. He was pushed off to his death. He was showing himself for other guys on an online chat for money.
Rusty goes back to prison to see Slader - Greg again now - but he’s sort of troubled when Slader asks him if he’ll be in court and if he can wave back... and says “thanks, it means a lot”, as if Rusty was his friend, like, his only friend...
Patrice visits Andy to look after him and Andy let slip that Provenza wants to marry her!
Kyle was recently seeing Grey Mitchell, a hip-hop star openly bisexual. An older, married guy killed Kyle because of his serious relationship with Grey.
The scene with Sharon and Andy is nice, but the last scene between Patrice and Provenza is beautiful really; she showed up so pretty in a red dress, he was grumpy and mushy at the same time, maybe worried that she didn’t want to marry him since she had not mentioned Andy’s awkward line, and she told him that she made sure to have a reservation at the restaurant “a table outside on the terrace with a view of the city, just in case our meal turned out to be memorable in some way” - “Patrice, you think you’re ready for this... dinner?” - “I definitely am, if you still want to go” and he says “I do!”. Who would have thought, such a nice, sweet, romantic scene with ‘Mr Grumpy’ Provenza! I loved the words too, how they talked about the marriage-proposal-thing without ever mentioning it, such a beautiful scene :)
16- Thick as thieves
Provenza is engaged :-)
Andy and Rusty go to Slader’s trial, and he was on his own for two days now :) Rusty has not talked to Gus - Mariana’s brother - since he went to San Diego, and hasn’t told him about his conversations with Slader. When Gus goes to talk to him he doesn’t say anything about them. Flynn testifies on how Mariana was held under water for 60 seconds: when he’s silent for ten seconds, Gus holds Rusty’s hand. Andy and Sharon go to hear the verdict: “guilty on all counts”.
Before Rusty tells Gus anything, his lawyer summons him to testify on his behalf for the sentence, and says “you’re the only friend he has on Earth” and Gus is of course angry hearing that: “you’re his friend?!!”
A jewel thief is found dead. Corey was killed because the ‘bond-woman’ wanted all the diamonds he had stolen.
17- #FindKaylaWeber
A five-year-old girl is missing, the daughter of baseball player Weber; later her body is found in Mr Gibson’s fridge. Kayla’s mom was drunk and kept cocaine in the girl’s room where her husband wouldn’t find it, but the girl swallowed it and od’ed. Then mom called the bodyguard and friend Curtis to take the body away and stage the kidnapping. When they try to arrest the mother, they find that the husband has already killed her.
Rusty has to testify, called by Slader’s lawyer: he talks about his troubled childhood but also adds that he himself and Mariana too had a difficult childhood, but they killed no-one, and that the only victim is Mariana, not him. Gus apologizes to Rusty for losing his temper. Rusty tells him “you don’t know me, truth is you’d be better off not caring about me so much” and Gus says “but I do care and that’s the problem, only it’s my problem so you don’t have to worry about it. In a week or two I’ll be gone and we won’t see each other again. Thanks for being nice about it”
18- Penalty phase
A university professor is shot dead on campus, in his office. He taught cinematography. The guy has filmed this murder as he filmed his other one, when he shot a woman showing him a house on sale. He thinks he’s making a film... This Brad wanted to be a director but got mad every time anyone criticized him. Once caught, he tries to set himself on fire but Julio saves him.
Slader is sentenced to death.
Rusty finds excuses to ask him out, that ‘everyone’ would be happy to see him, but Gus says no.
At Sharon’s Christmas party, Gus asks Rusty if he’s his date or not and tells him that he’s moving to LA to be near his other little sister. Rusty first tries excuses then says “I have no idea how to date anyone” and “what if it doesn’t work out?” and finally “what happens if once you get to know me better you stop liking me?”
Rusty also asks Sharon to bring him to Christmas dinner at Andy’s daughter’s house. :)
19- Hindsight, part 1
A mother and her child are shot in a gang war, and it turns out it was used the same gun that twelve years before killed a cop and a DDA and her bodyguard. Amy secretly talks with an ex-cop who was accused back then of planting evidence, but he’s not as careful as she’d like him to be.
When they get a search warrant for the suspected pastor, they find an uzi inside - also, the ex-cop coming out of the church.
Rusty is worried about his mom because her man - Jerry or something - has been following him and asking about her. Gus goes to talk to her with Rusty on video-chat, but she tells him to stay away from Gerry and from her and sends Gus away...
20- Hindsight, part 2
The weapon is the one used for all those murders. Gerry is wanted for armed robbery. He disappears and Rusty’s mom too and he’s worried.
Tao has a fight with that ex-cop - can’t seem to get a grip on his name :/ - who also was his ex-partner. Emile Fisher, their most probable suspect, is found killed.
21- Hindsight, part 3
Rusty’s mom has been arrested driving Gerry’s vehicle. Sharon talks to him and it was sweet when he hugged her saying “you’re my mom”.
Latino kids are killed in gang retaliations. They question ex-cop Mark’s wife and Buzz asks “how do people stay married when they don’t get along like this?” and Sharon: “I asked myself that for years” :p Anyway, she tells them that DA Rachel ten years ago was not ‘just’ sleeping with Mark, he was in love with her so Sherri confronted her and Rachel told her that she had left him because she did not love him.
Rusty talks to his mom in prison and she tells him she loves him but he has no obligations to her and he has a better situation and a better mom and also tells him that she can’t talk against Gary because if she does he’ll know and kill Rusty in revenge.
Funeral for Tamika and her son.
They arrest Peter the lawyer after finding a suspect’s phone in his car. Mark goes after reverend Price with a gun, but they get there in time and stop him.
22- Hindsight, part 4
They arrest Mark and he keeps saying it’s not his fault if Price walked free; he did lie on the stand but that’s ok in his eyes, it’s Mike’s fault because he didn’t back him up! The face...
They figure out that Tamika was the third person in the car when that cop was killed twelve years ago.
Patrice would like to elope but Provenza wants a big beautiful marriage - although he hates doing all the arrangements.
Sharon Beck helps them arrest Gary. Rusty calls his mom ‘the other Sharon’ when talking to ‘our’ Sharon...
Reverend Price’s brother was dealing heroine with the help of lawyer Peter Goldman. Reverend Price is very angry with Peter. His brother used his church for drug dealing. For fifteen years Julio thought his wife Maria died because her doctor took her off her meds and that caused the seizure that killed her - or something like that - so he goes to talk, finally, with her doctor and learns that he didn’t want her to stop, he advised her against it and he had her sign a paper about that. She never talked about it to her husband.
Sharon and Andy hug, so sweetly :)
23- Hindsight, part 5
Reverend Price talks to his brother with a camera on him. He admits to ‘being’ the cartel.
Provenza asks Buzz to write the guest list for him but he suggests for once doing what ‘she’ wants in order to have his sixth marriage started off better than the last five...
Sharon questions Francine and Amy about the bullets and speaking to Hickman.
With Sharon’s permission, no, suggestion, Rusty goes to jail to talk to Gary, and he angrily incriminates himself :)
As I thought, Steph - DDA Rachel’s guard’s wife - killed Tamika and her son and also Rachel and her husband because they were having an affair. I knew it, because she was getting too close to Julio, I knew it couldn’t last. She tries to shoot herself but they had switched her gun with an empty one.
I missed the ending of the episode !!! Provenza agreed to a simple marriage and they were getting married now, at the end of the episode, and the damn thing cracked right before it ! Damn!
