Please like me - season 1

No, sorry but I don’t, which is the main problem, I don’t like the protagonist, not at all. The others, some are ok some aren’t, so all in all I found this very boring. The episodes are short, so I tried watching three episodes to see how it went, but nope, definitely bored by the whole thing. I suppose some things are supposed to be funny, but the only funny one was Mae here, the rest was not funny to me.

1

Josh is whinging, going on and on about his not so good looks, when his beautiful girlfriend breaks up with him… shocker. She says they’re just friends plus he’s gay, which he didn’t know. Ok. So he goes to his friend Tom’s workplace to talk about it and meets Geoffrey, who looks interested and invites himself over for dinner with Josh, Tom and his girlfriend.

When they are left alone, Geoffrey invites himself to stay over and go sleep with Josh, to which he always reply okay, and then while he’s getting ready to sleep Geoffrey starts kissing him and he kisses back, but they stop because Josh cut himself shaving and now he’s bleeding. In the morning, Josh rushes to the hospital with Tom because his mother committed suicide, well, attempted to, and come back to see Geoffrey made him breakfast before leaving.

2

Alan is Josh’s father, long divorced, and now he’s pestering about her health, She can’t be left alone so Josh stays with her, but he wants to go on a date with Geoffrey, so he calls Aunt Peg. The date isn’t great, Geoffrey is full and doesn’t eat anything, which is not nice at all, and the whole thing was awkward. As they get home though, Geoffrey is all on him, but Josh is scared about gay sex and then his father keeps calling him.

3

Finally, finally Tom leaves Niamh, about time. Alan’s girlfriend finally snapped and left him alone during a dinner, how can she stand him is beyond me. Alan calls Josh but he doesn’t want to go and tells him to get a cab, but Geoffrey volunteers to help since he’s the only one who didn’t drink. They need to take Alan’s new Porsche to get washed, and they talk, and Alan starts saying he was gay and ends up saying Josh is gay and his boyfriend… which is very bad, not funny at all, you don’t spill other people’s business like that, no matter what they are, who does he think he is?

Peg insists until Josh goes to church, bringing all his friends along for comfort, and the whole thing is a long tirade against homosexuality (yeah right, where do they do that? Here they actually say the religious part of the mass, they don’t usually spend their time like that… although sometimes they talk politics, of course :-/ ) until Peg stands up and joins the fellowship of the ‘let’s out Josh to the world without him having a say in it at all, it’s only his life after all’ brigade, but at least she adds she still loves him and they all go out… and Tom says Niamh is pregnant, which is annoying and boring, and I guess he won’t get together with Claire at this point, sigh.

That’s it, I’m not watching anymore of this.
