Life on Mars series 1

in progress. only ep 1 for now.

1-
It's 2006, Sam is a DCI. They arrest Colin, a man who appears to be innocent but Maya thinks he's involved anyway and trails him and is taken. While he's crying over it, and listening to 'Life on Mars' by Bowie, Sam gets hit by a car. He wakes up in the past, a detective inspector wearing 70s clothes.
His boss is now DCI Gene Hunt. It's 1973 - he says that he was 4 in 1973, and that he's 33 years in the past. He thinks he's going crazy and says 'help me' to 'nurse' Annie.
There's a case that resembles completely his own case, and he keeps thinking it's some kind of joke. It's not only a similar case, he thinks it's the same murderer. With Sam's help, they arrest the guy and save the last girl, Dora. The guy was little Colin's neighbour. The guy will be locked up for 30 years and then he'll start killing again, and he'll take Maya.
Hunt leaves it to him to decide if he'll tell the judge about him being mentally unstable or not, but Sam throws away the piece of paper.
From time to time Sam hears and sees Neil, who says he's a psychotherapist speaking to his subconscious, at his hospital bedside. He tells him to wake up, but then when he thinks that he only has to die here to wake up again in his own time, Annie tells him that Neil is her ex-boyfriend, a psychologist, and Neil shouts "don't do it!" and "I'm sorry, bad joke"...
well, what kind of a therapist is he? Saying that he's in a coma, that he can escape, that he only needs to "take that definite step" to wake up with his family and friends around... what Sam did next was not surprising after that, going to the roof thinking of the definite step he needs to take...
I mean, bad joke?? Anyway.
Annie tries to stop him and convince him to stay, that this is real and he's making a difference, and he seems to be doubting that all this is just a trick of his imagination... he asks her what should he do, and she says "stay".
