Sharona is in New York with the captain, an excited Randy and a horrified Monk. As soon as he arrives there’s a shooting in his hotel - two dead.
He can hear the traffic from inside...
Monk works on a sketch and after 1 1/2 hours they barely finished one ear, and he didn’t see anything else :-p
If Monk helps with this new case they’ll let him talk to Tennyson about Trudy. She loved New York and always wanted to come here with him..
Monk survives the subway, sort of, gets separated from Sharona and starts wandering, lost. He goes crazy and starts preaching in Time Square.. then he recognizes the shooter on a screen. He killed the Ambassador because he got his coat by mistake with the proof that he had killed his wife.
The captain learns that Tennyson is dying. Tennyson says that someone paid him to make a bomb but doesn’t know who paid him, only that he had six fingers on his right hand. Before they go away the man asks for forgiveness : “forgive you? this is me turning off your machine, and this is Trudy, the woman you killed, turning it back on”..
The captain has to handcuff Monk to convince the taxi driver to accept him in his taxi :p
2- Mr Monk and the panic room
Benji fought another kid to defend a boy always bullied.
Record producer Ian Blackburn is found killed in his locked panic room with his monkey holding the gun. Sharona wants to protect the monkey accused of murder, sure of its innocence. Monk doesn’t much care that the monkey will be killed, so she breaks it free. She’s arrested and she tells Benji “Call Adrian, he will know what to do after I tell him”. She tells him that if he wants her back he has to prove Darwin’s innocence, because she’s sure if it and also thinks the popstar’s wife did it.
Darwin is at Monk’s house and he can’t deal with it, so he calls his doctor :p and Darwin helps him solve the case :p A bald man killed the guy, the man who built the panic room. They set a trap and arrest him. It was Chloe after all :) and Darwin will go to a zoo :)
3- Mr Monk and the blackout
Monk’s playing with Benji and Sharona, and while Benji draws he keeps saying “disturbing asimmetrical shape” and stuff like that, but can’t see what it is. Then they want to watch Willy Nelson on tv but lights go out and he panics until the blackout, caused by a bomb at a power plant, is over..
A woman likes Monk and Sharona tries to make him call her, so she tells him Michelle’s number so he won’t be able to forget it, but he’s all “I’m a married man”...
During the blackout three people died.
Doctor’s prescription, is to call her: “what’s the worst that could happen?” - “I might not hate it”
He calls her and has notes on the table to know what to say and the pile named Trudy is the biggest. Sharona is proud of him. Monk had panicked and agreed to meet her and now he’s “petrified and full of regret”. The restaurant is on the 52nd floor and Monk can’t even enter the elevator, so they take the steps. They get there too late, their table has been given away, so Monk takes her home, on the elevator this time: blackout again and he’s stuck in there. Again Sharona can’t watch the Willy Nelson show. A fugitive supposed to be dead appeared on that show. They arrest him and then later on Michelle tells him that when he solves his problem she’d like to go out with him again...
4- Mr Monk gets fired
Leland’s wife makes a documentary at the police department. Monk deletes ten years of forensic files because he was cleaning the keyboard. Commissioner Brooks wants to fire Monk and revoke his license too.
Sharona works again as a nurse and Monk sits there every day because he fells lost. He practices a job interview with his doctor and keeps talking about his wife’s murder and the bomb. The interview is rather awkward but he gets the job and he’s destroyed now, he wants to be a cop.
Karen keeps filming her husband even at embarrassing moments.
A man kills a girl. The commissioner’s hat gets grabbed twice and knowing this Monk solves the case of the torso murder, and he’s so happy he dances barefoot in his apartment...
The murderer cut the body up and dumped it and cleaned everything, so they would not find her dna anywhere, but she had donated her hair to a wig-maker: a wig full of her dna, it’s a toupee, the one on the commissioner’s head. He denies wearing one, he’d let a guy who has killed two people get away with it because of it. Monk says he’s sure 100% but Leland can’t get it off; when Monk says 74% Sharona says “74% is good enough for me” and she jumps on the man and keeps pulling his hair until it comes off, and then Leland ‘blackmails’ the commissioner into giving Monk his license back or Karen will include that bit into her documentary...
5- Mr Monk meets the Godfather
Salvatore Lucarelli, the boss of all bosses, is the west-coast godfather, and Monk’s services are needed :-p Cafè Palermo - people in his family were killed and he wants to know who did it. Federals are watching the family and they tell Monk to accept the case. An FBI guy tells him that he’ll speak in his favour next time there’s an hearing for his reinstatement, so of course Monk accepts.
Monk says “I haven’t needed a babysitter since I was nineteen” :-p
Thug Vince at the Mint was funny: “you have a license to print money?” - Sharona’s new friend Tony has her ex to pay her what he owes her and the mechanic to fix her the car for free.
Tony has to frisk them both when they go at the service for the dead. Monk finds out that the shooting had nothing to do with the mob family, actually it was the Mint guy who had hidden five precious coins in the gumball machine and then had to retrieve it.
Later Randy plays a surveillance tape for Sharona, of Tony saying he’s just telling her what she wants to hear but that he’s actually working for his uncle and has no real intention of opening a bookstore.
The FBI won’t help Monk because he didn’t get Lucarelli for them :-/
6- Mr Monk and the girl who cried wolf
Teacher: Emma Caufield
Sharona sees a man who’s been stabbed, something in his chest and his head, but she calls Monk and the police and nobody’s there anymore. They think she’s so stresses she hallucinated.
She takes a writing course. The teacher says that she didn’t turn it in, but she was sure she did. Lately it seems she forgets or loses things a lot. She sees again the stabbed guy at a gas station. Sharona goes to see dr Kroger, Monk waiting outside and meeting other patients, kind of weird like him :p
Sharona sees him again at the dr’s bathroom. She needs some time off so she leaves him with another nurse, a rather exhuberant one :p still, she saves the day :)
Sharona drops out of class and plans to go away leaving Benji with hi dad. While Sharona’s talking to her teacher, she sees stabbed-guy at the window but the teacher turns and sees nothing..
The teacher was having an affair with him and killed her husband, following Sharona’s story-plot fatal-recipe..
7- Mr Monk and the employee of the month
Monk works undercover at a supermarket and sees his doctor put a snack in his pocket, and he tells him; Monk is hurt (!) because he thinks the doctor stole it, but he says that he already had it in his pocket, like he always has...
A fellow cop now working there as a guard tells Sharona that Monk was laughing when he got the call about Trudy - :’( - and adds “he never laughed again”. The captain thinks of him, Joe, as a dirty cop, but Monk clears him.
Jeannie killed a woman because she was beating her as employee of the month. She cares about it so much because the winner gets a parking spot, and from that specific one she can rob the bank with her two friends. Monk gives a rifle to Joe and he shoots the van tyre and stops them. Detective Joe is reinstated.
Randy has a top model girlfriend but nobody’s ever seen her so they think he made her up :p
8- Mr Monk and the game show
Monk’s neighbour is cooking at Monk’s house (the one who won the lottery). Sharona went away to her mom and asked him to look in on Monk :-p
Trudy’s father comes to visit Monk. He’s producing a game show and asks him to go to LA to help him with something, and Kevin goes with them. Good, Kevin’s fun.
A guy keeps winning and he’s sure that he’s cheating but can’t figure out how. The show host is helping the contestant win, and he killed his assistant because she found out.
In Trudy’s parents’ house there are a lot of pictures of her, and lots of memories for him too.
Monk joins the show as a contestant to see the show better, and tells his story on tv :-p
This contestant saw the accident and blackmailed the host into making him win. Monk proves it live on the show. Dwight: “Adrian, you are amazing, just like Trudy always said. Thank you for this” - “Thank you for Trudy” ...
At Dwight’s home Monk enters Trudy’s room and reads a page of her diary of when she was little, saying “God wants people to be happy, nobody can stay sad forever” ...
9- Mr Monk takes his medicine
There’s a shooting in the street and the captain is injured. Monk tells his doctor that he envies everyone: “I’m so tired of being me” and “I’m helpless, I’m pathetic, a broken machine. He always refuses drugs, but the doctor gives him some anyway, then Sharona hurries to call him. Randy and Monk work together but Monk fails to stop a suspect because he had touched a dirty metal bar, and now feels guilty. Sharona says “it wasn’t your fault” - “it always is”. He’s afraid of taking the pills, “afraid of changing and afraid of not changing” but he takes two nonetheless. Afterwards he’s different, hugs the captain who’s feeling better, eats the food the captain left in the plate... he’s more... ‘relaxed’, but no more ‘brilliant’. He dresses loose, talks to people, buys a red car, is arrogant... Sharona is worried but he says he’s fine, happy finally. Eventually the drugs wear off, he comes back and solves the case. Shooting the captain was just a diversion.
Sharona throws away the rest of the pills (why? couldn’t they give them back to his doctor?)
10- Mr Monk and the red herring
We hear dr Kroger say that Sharona sold her house, remarried her ex-husband and moved to New Yersey, three months ago. He tells Monk to look for a new nurse. Monk: “God help her”
The case: a man breaks into a house, had a fight with the woman there, Natalie - her husband died six years before and was a navy pilot - and she killed him in self defence. She has an 11-year-old daughter and begs Monk to help her. Her husband wanted to be an astronaut and got accepted in the Nasa program, but died right before the letter.
A guy had hidden a stolen Moon-rock in Julie’s acquarium, and when he took it Monk ran after him but saved the fish instead of the rock :-p
Monk offers Natalie to work for him as assistant and she calls him to accept and he tells her about a spider in his house :-p
11- Mr Monk vs the Cobra
Sung Kang plays Mr Wang.
Monk refuses to pay for Natalie’s expenses; because of that she quits but of course she comes back.
Harry Groener is the victim. A robber killed him and staged the whole thing to throw suspicions that Chow was still alive instead of dead for six years, so that they’d dig up his coffin and he could retrieve the diamonds in it.
He buries Monk alive but they find him, of course.
He gives up Trudy’s office, saving 600$ a month so now he can pay Natalie.
12- Mr Monk gets cabin fever
Monk witnesses a murder and is put in a protection program, in a cabin with Natalie and the captain (he was the youngest detective in the history of the department).
A woman murders her husband near Monk’s cabin. He’s 95% sure that she killed him so the three of them go check it out. Natalie calls Monk “the prince of darkness” because wherever he goes someone is killing somebody else :-p
Randy’s girlfriend is tricking him into believing Monk’s in danger so he goes to him and can be followed :-/ Leland saves Monk. The woman is arrested and the mob guys killed.
13- Mr Monk gets stuck in traffic
An activist man is killed. The murderer delivered the car with the body on the road but left there his phone. The cops arrest Monk instead, because he keeps poking around. He has everything figured out, even who did it, the guy in front of him with a paramedic outfit on.
Natalie went to search for proof and is in trouble when he drives off. Finally the cops see the real paramedic’s body and realize he was right all along. They’re in pursuit, and Monk takes off his belt and leans over the window to shot :-p
Of course they save her.
14- Mr Monk goes to Vegas
The captain calls Monk to Las Vegas, saying that he solved a case and had proof, but when they get there he has a bad hangover and doesn’t remember anything. He won a first prize karaoke contest :-p Now they have to retrace his steps to figure out what he figured out the night before.
Rich Daniel Thorne is a writer and his wife’s scarf was trapped in the elevator doors and died.
Randy is gambling hard at blackjack and is losing and losing it. Monk helps, not ‘counting cards’ but ‘remembering them’. Monk wins Randy’s money back, then Leland remembers what proof he had, two pictures that don’t match :-) so he reasons, he has to be drunk as a skunk to be as smart as Monk :-p
15- Mr Monk and the election
Natalie is running for office in a school board election when there’s a shooting. She got her copy-machine at a police auction. Answering a reporter’s questions, Monk says “I’m her boss” and “I didn’t have a choice, she just said she was doing it” :-p then asks about the most important issue here: “if Natalie wins, who will take care of me? No, I’m asking, who? Do you know?”
Harold, Kroger’s patient, runs against Natalie, and it drives Monk crazy and there’s like a competition.
She wrote “save Ashton Junior High - 5th District school board - Natalie Teeger” on her posters.
Monk played ‘keep away’ in high school and college... poor Monk.
Monk thinks she wasn’t the target, just a diversion, but then someone throws a grenade in her house. Monk puts it in the fridge, and then opens the door again to put it straight...
Natalie still won’t quit. Monk thinks it’s because Mitch was a hero, but she tells him that it’s on a record somewhere that the men with him said he panicked, he was a coward, and now Natalie is all Julie’s got and he can’t be a coward too.
At the debate Monk asks Harold only about Dr Kroger because he apparently knows him well :p better than him, he’s been to his house, introduced him to his fiancée...
A man left a paper, jammed in the copy machine, before he was arrested.
Harold wins, he thanks his wife and dr Kroger and he’s there - not looking too happy about it but still he’s there :-p
16- Mr Monk and the kid
This was the most touching episode of all Monk’s episodes.
A child’s missing at the park, the cops find him and see that he has a human finger in his hands. Little Tommy takes Monk’s hand and when they had to separate the child wouldn’t let him go, he likes him :-) Tommy is removed from his foster home and Monk wants him :) Monk plays with him :) and when he has to change him and Natalie is not there, he calls 911 :lol:
A man’s been kidnapped and the mother asks Monk if he has children, if he wouldn’t do anything, even die for him and Monk says “yes, I have a son” and “yes I would” ....
Monk delivers the ransom money but they want him to undress and he tells him he almost didn’t graduate because he couldn’t change in the locker room :p then he wears a bathrobe, goes to the roof and gives the money to the wrong person :p The captain took it back and they get another date.
Julie says the child will grow up to be just like Monk and his heart melts: “I’m not giving him up” he says, and wants to keep him :) then he thinks that he can barely take care of himself, Tommy wouldn’t be happy-ever-after with him :(
Tommy’s former foster parents were the kidnappers. Monk gives Tommy to another foster couple. He kisses Monk while Natalie cries, moved.
