This is the season when Picard sometimes has a grey uniform and a red jacket-uniform on, cool. Also, Worf comes back because he’s not a true Klingon and we meet poor Dathon, Shaka when the walls fell!
We also meet Ro Laren, androgynous Soren, empathic metamorph Kamala and Spock!
The beautiful crystalline entity is no more while Molly O’Brien is born. Deanna is assaulted, falls in love, and is taken over by a criminal’s consciousness, and Picard lives a whole life in the span of 20 minutes.
This season’s huge cliffhanger is: how did Data lose his head in the 19th century?

1- Redemption II
ITA La via di Klingon: parte 2
There’s an obvious recap then: Worf serves on Kurn’s ship. Kurn’s a skillful captain :-)
45020.4 Picard speaks to admiral Shanthi. He doesn’t ask to fight with a Klingon faction against the other, but to stand at the Romulan/Klingon border to stop any help from the Romulans.
45021.3 Starfleet command agreed to a blockade and Picard assigns part of his people to other ships where necessary. Riker as Captain and Geordi his first officer. After Data asks, he’s assigned as captain as well. His first officer requests a transfer and is denied. O’Brien is at Worf’s station on the Enterprise. Commander Sela says Tasha was her mother - wow she grew up fast  - they thought the same and were sure it wasn’t true, but Guinan comes to tell Picard - and remind me - that Tasha was on the old Enterprise in a battle against the Romulans and she survived. 23 years ago, or 24. A Romulan general offered Tasha to spare the other survivors if she’d marry him so she did. Five years later a 4-y-o Sela betrayed her mother when she tried to run away with her child. Tasha was executed.
Picard suggests Gowron launch a massive attack so that the Duras will ask for Romulan help, so they’ll step in and stop the Romulans and expose their involvement, and this should also leave the Duras without much support from the Klingons.
Worf was abducted by the Duras sisters - after being left alone by his brother for not acting like a true Klingon :lol - and the sisters had to give him to Sela.
Data has a hard time with his first officer but he reveals the Romulan’s sneaky move and stops them from passing through. The Duras are on their own, the sisters beam away leaving Worf to beat alone his one Romulan guard and also leaving Toral alone. Gowron wins.
Picard tells Data about his disobeying orders that his actions were “appropriate for the circumstances” and it was noted in his record. Gowron offers Toral’s life to Worf but Worf refuses to kill him, refuses the Klingon’s way, and he also stops Kurn from doing it. Worf also goes back to the Enterprise.
2- Darmok
ITA Darmok
45047.2 They’re going “to the uninhabited El-adrel system”, “near the territory occupied by an enigmatic race known as the Children of Tama”: the Tamarians. They appear to be reaching out to the Federation. Every one of the seven times the Federation met them, relations were never established because they were called “incomprehensible”. Picard is optimist but the Tamarians say things like “Rai and Jiri at Lungha. Rai of Lowani. Lowani under two moons. Jiri of Ubaya. Ubayaof crossed roads at Lungha. Lungha. Her sky gray” and “Kadir beneath Mo Moteh” when laughing at them, and “the river Temarc, in winter” to make the other shut up. “Shaka, when the walls fell” is sad.
When the captain makes his decision: “Darmok at Tanagra” then he takes two knives saying “Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra” and beams himself and Picard on a planet. At first both the Ent and Picard think the other captain (Dathon I think) wants to fight, but it’s not true. The captain helps Picard with fire when the night is freezing, and gives him one of the two knives not to combat each other but to fight together against an aggressive creature. Data and Troi find out that Darmok was a hunter, and that leads to the fact that they communicate through references to individuals and places and what happened there. When they try and fail to beam up Picard, he can’t help the captain and he gets hurt :-‘(
That night Picard learns from him the story of Darmok and Jalad who came separately to the island Tanagra and defeated the beast and went away together. That’s what the captain hoped for the two of them.
The captain dies and Picard is left alone against the beast but they manage to beam up Picard right when the two ships are starting fire. Picard runs to the bridge and hails them and explains: “Temarc, the river Temarc! In winter. Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Darmok and Jalad on the ocean” - “Sokath, his eyes open” - “The beast of Tanagra? Uzani. His armu. Shaka. When the walls fell” and they get it. “Picard and Dathon at El-Adrel”. Picard tries to give them back his knife but they ‘tell him’ to keep it. “Temba, his arms open” to give it. “Temba, at rest” to let him keep it.
I always loved this episode.
3- Ensign Ro.
ITA Il guardiamarina Ro
Picard gets his hair cut… with scissors and a comb… and Mr Mot talks a lot.
They receive a message: “This is the Bajora. We claim responsibility for the destruction of the Federation colony on Solarion Four. As long as we are without our homeland, no one will be safe in this sector”.
45076.3 Picard’s aunt Adele’s cure for the common cold: ginger tea with honey, 80 degrees celsius.
The Cardassians are used to these attacks “since they annexed the Bajoran home world 40 years ago”. There are many Bajorans in Starfleet, according to Piacrd; Ro Laren is assigned to the Enterprise by the admiral, and Picard is ordered to accept it. She was in prison, Picard says she doesn’t deserve the uniform. The admiral got her out of prison for this very mission - one wonders why, if there are other Bajorans in Starfleet… but there is a reason, more or less, and we’ll hear it later.
Riker is very very hostile towards her. They talk to Keeve Falor and give blankets and other basic necessities to his people in exchange for what info he may find. Guinan is the only one who can approach her. When they find Orta, the leader, they are taken prisoner and told that they did not attack a Federation settlement. They’re freed but Ro doesn’t know what to do, and Guinan says “a very long time ago, I got into some serious trouble too, and I mean serious, and I’d probably still be there if I hadn’t trusted one man” and next thing we see is the two of them going to Picard. He’s not inclined to listen at first but then Guinan calls Ro her friend, and so he does. Ro says the admiral knew that negotiations were hopeless, and Ro’s mission was to offer Orta something nobody else could: if Orta stopped attacks against the Federation and “return with his people to the camps” he would get weapons and ships in exchange. “Captain, I don’t know who to trust anymore. But that strange bartender of yours has a way of getting to you and… and she said that you were her friend”. So Picard solves it all. He says he’s escorting a Bajoran ship of rebels and when the Cardassians come to destroy it, the admiral orders them to turn away and preserve the treaty with the Cardassians, but there was nobody on that ship, and when the admiral learns this and asks why he protected the terrorists, Picard says they didn’t do anything against the Federation, wouldn’t even be able to with the old ships they have, and suggests that the Cardassians did the attack, in order to find someone like him who would take care of the problem for them… now Picard asks Ro to stay on the Enterprise but she has one condition: that she’s allowed to wear her Bajoran earring :-) Picard does his laughing smile :-)
4- Silicon Avatar
ITA L’entità di cristallo
The Melona colony is just starting, with great enthusiasm, when the Crystalline Entity arrives killing and destroying everything, so they all run and hide in the caves, because Riker, Data, Beverly and Picard are there and know the entity.
45122.3 Picard wants to follow the entity to investigate it, so Dr Kila Marr joined them, a xenobiologist whose life’s work is the entity. At first she hates Data because his brother Lore betrayed Omicron Theta, where her son died, to the entity, but then she learns how different he is, and that he has her son’s memories in him - well, not all of them, just the journals, stuff like that. The doctor of course wants to destroy it, and can’t understand why Picard wants to communicate with it. She can’t let it go because she feels guilty, she left her son with friends to go and pursue her career.
Data now practices the acoustic guitar.
They find a way to communicate, and Picard is amazed, they have the entity before the ship and it’s beautiful, but then the doctor kills her, destroys her so Picard puts her in a cell. We knew she’d do it, after seeing her cry when she asked Data to use her son’s voice in talking to her, and now she says she did it for her son Renny aka Raymond, but Data says: “from what I know of him, by his memories and his writing, I do not believe he would be happy. He was proud of your career as a scientist, and now you have betrayd that. You say yoou did it for him, but I do not believe he would have wanted that. Yes, I believe your son would be very sad now”. Good words, Data, you tell her, nobody does things like that for someone else, they do those things for themselves.
5- Disaster
ITA Disastro sull’Enterprise
45156.1 They’re on a relax period. Keiko is pregnant and they can’t decide on the boy’s name. Beverly wants Geordi to sing in her play. Deanna introduces Marissa, Jay Gordon and Patterson to Picard, “the winners of the primary school science fair” and he takes them for a ship tour. While on the turbo-lift, serious quakes scare everyone on the ship, and Picard finds himself stuck with three children inside the turbolift. Troi is on the bridge with O’Brien, Ro, a few others and one dead. She can’t communicate with anyone. Troi “carries the rank of lieutenant commander” so she’s in charge. O’Brien says that, and Ro’s face doesn’t look happy. Troi’s face much less  In ten-forward Riker, Data and Worf are together. Keiko lies down but alive. Picard makes the children his officers giving them his ‘pins’, two to the girl because as the oldest she’s his number one. He has a broken ankle and wants them to go but they want to stay with him. keiko and Worf take care of all injured until she goes into labor. When O’Brien and Ro don’t agree Troi has to decide. Beverly and Geordi are in a cargo bay dealing with radiation and a possible explosion. Riker goes around with Data’s head. Picard sings with the kids and they hug him. Worf ‘heps’ Keiko deliver the baby, and it’s a baby girl. When everyone’s safe and they get the ship to work again, the children give Picard a “commemorative plaque” they made :-)
6- The game
ITA Il gioco
Etana has beautiful curly red hair :-) At Risa, she has Riker try a game, a headset where you must put the disk inside the cone with your mind and as a reward you feel pleasure.
45208.2 Wesley is on vacation from the academy and comes on board. Riker has brought the game. Deanna enjoys chocolate ice cream, with chocolate fudge and chocolate chips.”chocolate is a serious thing”, she says. We feel you, girl.
O’Brien’s daughter is called Molly. Worf made the “Tarvokian pound cake”. Wesley and Data share memories of the academy :-) and he’s charmed by Robin Lefler. Riker shows Deanna the game and she has Beverly try it too. Soon they deactivate Data. Wesley also talks to Picard about his professors and Boothby. He refuses all of Beverly’s tries to make him play the game. He has a date with Lefler. Now everyone’s playing it but Wesley and Lefler, who instead choose to study it. They get worried because it’s addictive. They’re constantly harassed to try it so they use two fake one to trick them. Etana and the Ktarians used it to conquer other people and now want the crew to take the game to other ships, stations, even the academy. To better pla the game, the secret is to ‘let go’, not fight it… things get even tougher when they get to Lefler and Wesley has to run… but they soon get him, it’s the whole ship against him, and Beverly puts the game on him… but luckily Data arrives to flash their eyes and free them of the control. Wesley and Lefler hug and kiss goodbye, and promise to keep in touch as good friends.
7- Unification
ITA Il segreto di Spock: parte 1
45233.1 Ambassador Spock disappeared and was then spotted on Romulus. Starfleet is worried. They worry Spock may have betrayed the Federation. Picard goes on Vulcan to talk about Spock. His relationship with his father has always been strained, then Spock attacked Sarek’s position on the Cardassian war, and now they might never have the chance to ‘make peace’. Picard would like the Klingon’s help but Gowron ignores him because he’s rewriting history, saying it was all him, his courage and genius that stopped the civil war, with no mention of any help from outsiders. Picard simply wants a ship. He gets it and Data and Picard go towards Romulus, and make themselves look like Romulans. On Romulus they knew of their arrival, luckily for them Pardek and Spock find them first.
There’s a memorial line “Gene Roddenberry 1921-1991”.
8- Unification II
ITA Il segreto di Spock: parte 2
Picard calls Spock’s actions “cowboy diplomacy”. Spock knows of Romulan people “who seek to learn the ideals of the Vulcan philosophy” and are now considered “enemies of the state”. He’s here to make the first steps towards a reunification, after so many centuries. When Spock helped in the treaty with the Klingons, he involved Kir but now he doesn’t want to risk anyone’s life. Spock meets Proconsul Neral who speaks of public support. We see Spock and Data together and Data tells him that Spock abandoned what he’s searched for his whole life :-p
Riker and the Enterprise “investigate the theft of a surplus Vulcan ship” at an alien bar he speaks with “the former wife of a deceased smuggler” who plays music with her many hands. Riker gets his info from the fat Ferengi who says he delivered the Vulcan ship to a Barolian freighter at Galorndon Core near the Neutral Zone.
Senator Pardek betrays them despite his 80 years long friendship with Spock and Sela arrests them all. She wants to conquer Vulcan. Sela writes a speech she wants Spock to read giving a statement: she “tried to make it sound Vulcan… a lot of unnecessarily long words”. Spock and the Senate proconsul would appear together to “announce to the Vulcans that a peace envoy is on its way from Romulus”, using the stolen Vulcan ship. Three stolen ships, actually. It doesn’t mattere that the real Spock won’t do it, they programmed a holographic-Spock. They manage to trap her, and Spock delivers a different message saying there’s an invasion force on those ships that must be stopped. A Romulan ship destroys the three stolen ships so they won’t be taken prisoners. Picard and Data come back but Spock wants to stay and keep at it. Picard offers Spock to meld their minds and see what Sarek shared with him.
9- A matter of time
ITA Uno strano visitatore
There were “nuclear winters” on Earth in the 21st century.
They meet professor Berlinghoff Rasmussen who says he comes from Earth, but from “the late 26th century”, almost 300 years in the future. Of course he can’t answer questions about the future…
45350.3 The Enterprise helps cure a world, and then before Rasmussen can leave, they unmask him. His ship is truly from the 26th century, but its pilot who went to the 22nd century met Rasmussen who probably killed him to steal his ship. He was a poor inventor, and he had this plan to come here and steal many things and bring them back to study them and then ‘invent them’, but they arrest him. His ship disappears, he’ll have to stay here, I mean in the now.
10- New ground
ITA L’onda soliton
45376.3 Worf’s mother comes with Alexander. She tells him they’re too old for a small Klingon child and that he needs his father. Alexander starts school but he takes stuff and then denies it: he steals and lies, and the first time Worf gives him a long speech about honour and how Kahless had fought his dishonorable brother and how he shames not only himself but also Worf… the second time is enough for Worf to decide to send him to a Klingon school! The poor part-human child :-( Troi talks to Worf but it’s not enough, it’s only after Alexander sneaks out and almost dies in a fire that Worf will reconsider and choose to keep him here - finally!
The soliton wave is a revolutionary propulsion system, a wave like a oscillating carpet that will pick up the ship and carry it to warp speed and at first it’s a great experiment, then it loses control and it might even destroy a colony, but the Enterprise destroys it in time.
11- Hero worship
ITA Un eroe da imitare
45397.3 The only survivor of a ship is a boy who witnesses Data saving him with his android strength. Timothy wants Data close because he’s his hero, and after learning that Data can’t feel emotions, he chooses to ‘become’ an android. Data spends a lot of time with hi, to help him process his trauma. He wrongly thought he had caused the destruction of a ship when he hit a panel, but in the end it’s his memory of what happened that makes Data realize that the more power they give to the shields the more damage they suffer, so they save themselves. Timothy is a boy again, and remains friends with Data.
12- Violations
ITA Violenza mentali
45429.3 There’s a “delegation of Ullians” on the ship, they’re “telepathic historians” and they retrieve forgotten memories. Keiko remembers her grandma writing with a brush. They want a library of individual’s memories. Not their whole species can do what they do, they studied a lot. The three of them are a family, the parents and their son Jev.
45430.9 Troi falls into a coma when her mind is assaulted, in her mind she lives a physical and sexual assault. Riker questions Jev and later his mind is assaulted too, making him relieve a time when he let an ensign die - if it really happened. Then it’s Beverly’s turn. When Deanna wakes up, she remembers nothing. Troi accepts Jev’s offer to help her remember, but he makes her see his father’s face. Still, he can’t stop himself and he tries again. Deanna fights him until Worf and Data arrive to save her. The others wake up too.
13 - The masterpiece society
ITA Una società perfetta
45470.1 A colony nobody knew about is in danger but refuses to leave. A society genetically engineered, their ancestor came to “create a perfect society”. One of them, Hannah, works with Geordi to try to prevent the disaster. At first they didn’t even want to talk, and then their leader Conor falls for Deanna and many ship’s engineers go down to help. They’re successful, but Hannah and other 22 colonists choose to go away with the ship, disrupting their engineered society. Conor is in love with Deanna ad tells her so, but he’s the leader and chooses to stay.
14 - Conundrum
ITA Amnesia
45494.2 Data plays chess with Troi and she wins, so he’ll personally make her a Samarian sunset.
A small unknown ship scans the Enterprise, a bright light hits them and they all forget everything. There’s a second commander on the bridge now! Worf challenges Picard’s authority and sits on the captain’s chair and gives orders, and wants to prepare for battle. Even Data can’t remember. When they retrieve the files, Worf is a bit embarrassed, as he should be. They also ‘find out’ that they’re at war with “the Lysian Alliance”. Ro and Riker always fought each other, but now they have a fling, and she’s so jealous she keeps him away from Troi. They destroy a small ship following what they think are their orders, but when they reach the Lysian central command with more than 15.000 people and very little defence, Picard refuses to fire, only ‘MacDuff’ insists, even tries to take charge and fire himself, and when they fire at him it’s obvious he isn’t human. They stop, Beverly ‘cures’ them and the Lysians identify MacDuff as a Satarran, an alien race that’s been at war with the Lysians for decades. Now Ro and Deanna remember all and Riker is again single :lol
15- Power play
ITA Gioco di potere
45571.2 They explore a deserted moon because Troi says there’s someone alive there, they go down with a shuttle: Troi, Data and O’Brien’s bodies are taken over by bright dots/lights getting inside them, the fourth did not enter Riker because of his broken arm. They go back on the ship and try to take control. Failing the first attempt, they keep trying from ten-forward, where Keiko and her baby watch Miles shoot people. Troi tells Picard that she is “captain Bruce Shumar of the Federation starship Essex”. The same ship that vanished 200 years ago. His first officer cmdr. Mullen is inside Data and the security chief Lt Kelly in is Miles. When the electromagnetic storm caught and destroyed their ship, their “consciousness was absorbed into the magnetic currents on the surface”. NCC-173, crew 229. Picard doesn’t believe them at all. Ro’s first attempt at freeing them is badly done and fails. Truth is, they only want to escape, they were brought here, separated from their bodies and “left to drift in the storms” 500 years ago. They almost escaped with the Essex, but it was destroyed by the storms. They’re actually condemned prisoners because the moon is a penal colony. When Picard threatens to kill everything in the room, and Keiko and Worf confirm that they’re ready to die to protect their child/ship, it appears that these three or the other prisoners are not so eager to die and give up, and accept to be returned to the moon’s surface.
16- Ethics
ITA Questione di etica
Worf doesn’t believe Troi to be good at bluffing :p He is injured when a big weight falls on his back.
45587.3 Beverly thinks that “his paralysis may be permanent”. Worf asks Riker to help him die in a Klingon ceremony. A doctor comes on board and says her “genetronic replicator” could replicate Worf’s whole spinal column. She’s never done it on people, and tests give a success rate of less than 40%… Beverly refuses it. Alexander is sad because Worf refuses to see him. Worf refuses every treatment Beverly suggests so Dr Russell comes forward with her replicator. Bevrly is not happy, but Dr Russell is right in Worf’s case because he’ll kill himself if he can’t go back to full mobility - he calls it honor, I’m a bit disgusted of how he treats his child, not caring at all what’d happen to him.
Bur, Dr Russell is very much less right in giving one of the many injured persons they are taking on board an experimental solution. Still, Beverly wants to stop her from even trying with Worf! Picard has to insist with her to make her say yes. Riker makes a good speech at Worf on how he despises the whole suicide ceremony and refuses to help him. Of course Worf accepts all risks of the replicator procedure, and then he hands little Alexander his knife to bring back to his quarters… *rollingeyes*… *klingons*…
Worf asks Deanna to raise Alexander should he die … and I do wonder why… I mean, she’d be the great, obvious choice of everyone else, but Worf? She sure won’t raise him like he would… which could only be a good thing of course, still…
Worf does die, they stop and tell Deanna and Alexander, but then Worf makes it and he finally accepts to keep his son close while he does his exercises to regain full mobility.
17- The outcast
ITA Il diritto di essere
45614.6 “We have been contacted by an androgynous race called the J’Naii to investigate the mysterious disappearance of ne of their shuttlecraft”. Riker works closely with Soren. “The Federation was founded in 2161”. Data and Worf and Troi and Beverly play poker.
Soren is different, she feels female and for this she’s been hiding all her life because genders are not accepted on her world. Soren confesses to Riker because she likes him. They start a relationship and she’s arrested. Not just put in prison but sent to be ‘cured’. Riker sneaks on the planet to take Soren away, and Worf wants to help him, and it’d be just so easy, if only she wanted to go… but Soren has been cured already and doesn’t want to be with him anymore. He says he loves her, but it’s too late.
18- Cause and effect
ITA Circolo chiuso
45652.1 This time Data plays cardswith Riker, Worf and Beverly. The episode begins with the destruction of the Enterprise then we see them for a while until they meet “a highly localized distortion of the space-time continuum” and blow up again. And they start again from stardate 45652.1. They play poker, then Geordi feels dizzy, then Beverly and others hear voices at night. Picard gives her his aunt Adele’s cure for insomnia: steamed milk. In the morning, they have a meeting then they find the anomaly, try to get away but can’t and blow up. At the poker game they start remembering the cards, and this déjà vu is felt by everyone. The voices in the night are heard too and Geordi and Data work on it, and it’s the crew’s voices! They see that they’re in a “temporal casuality loop”, repeating a specific fragment in time over and over. They decide that Data will send a signal to himself in the next loop to avoid making the same mistake. Next loop, Data deals everyone a 3, and then he gives everyone three of a kind. And Data keeps seeing the number three many many times in the last two hours, then Beverly calls and they find the voices and they discuss it, and then it happens… but this time, at the last moment Data sees the “rank insignia” on Riker’s uniform: 3, so he follows Riker’s suggestion instead. They had always followed Data’s suggestion before. Now they survive. They’ve lost 17 days, and the ship that they hit before exploding is a Soyuz class, not in service in over 80 years. They think it’s 2278…
19- The first duty
ITA Il primo dovere
45703.9 To Earth, where Picard will “deliver this year’s commencement address at Starfleet academy”. There will also be Wesley. “His flight team will perform a demonstration near Saturn that will be transmitted to the graduation ceremonies”. Wesley had an accident while practicing a close formation. Five ships destroyed, four pilots transported out, one didn’t make it. Nicholas Locarno is Wesley’s squadron leader. Picard investigates what happened too, and realizes the truth. The squadron did the Kolvoord Starburst, they were practicing it. The ships ignite their plasma trails, very spectacular, but it was banned by the academy after an accident where all five cadets died. Locarno “wanted to end his academy career in a blaze of glory” so he convinced them to learn it. Picard says Locarno would have graduated as a living legend… which should not be true because if it was banned it should not be accepted so easily… it should in some way affect his career… still I say should not because Picard is probably true.
Anyway, Wesley refuses to answer. Picard is angry that Wesley lied, by omission, but still, Picard says the first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, and he wants Wesley to stand up and tell the truth or he doesn’t deserve his uniform. Picard closes with ‘you tell them or I will’. The admiral is about to close the investigation because they have nothing more to go on, but at the last second Wesley jumps up and tells the truth. Locarno is expelled, only him because he protected the team like he always promised. Wesley will not advance with the others but will sort of ‘lose a year’.
20- Cost of living
ITA Il prezzo della vita
Lwaxana is getting married. To a man she’s not met in person yet. Profiles have been exchanged…
Poor Alexander is still having trouble with Worf: “I’m supposed to do everything right all the time, I don’t know how” :-( Lwaxana calls him little warrior and takes him to the holodeck for mud baths. Deanna and Worf are not amused. Some metal eating parasites are causing troubles on the ship. Lwaxana’s groom is full of rules.
45733.6 Lwaxana refuses to wear that dress she hates and goes to her wedding naked as per Betazoid tradition. There will be no wedding :-p
The ending scene: Lwaxana, Alexander, Deanna and a growling Worf having a mud bath :lol
She only wanted to marry him because she felt lonely and old, but with him it would have meant giving up too much of herself.
21- The perfect mate
ITA La donna perfetta
45761.3 “In an effort to bring an end to their century-long war, Krios and Valt Minor have agreed to a ceremony of reconciliation to be held aboard the Enterprise”. Because of the Ferengi, Kamala gets woken long before time. Kamala is a gift for the other side to stop the war. Kamala is an empathic metamorph, she changes depending on who she’s with until she reaches the final stage of bonding, and then she stays like that. She kisses Riker and he has to run away. Beverly complaints about the whole arranged-marriage thing and tells Picard she’s confined to her room for the journey so he goes to see if she’s alright. They spend time together and when it’s finally time to separate she tells him that she’s bonded to him and she’ll never change. After trying to resist for so long, now Picard has a moment of weakness and says “you can’t go through with the ceremony”… but that would mean let the war go on, and by bonding to him she knows about duty. She’s still empathic so she’ll know what to do. Since the ambassador was hurt in an accident with the Ferengi, it’s Picard who walks with her and gives her away to this Alrik of Valt. Before going away, the ambassador wonders howPicard could resist her, working with her for days… but he does not answer.
22- Imaginary friend
ITA Un’amica immaginaria
45852.1 Ensign Sutter’s daughter Clara has an imaginary friend, Isabella. When they study a nebula, we see a small all of reddish light wander through until it enters Clara’s head, comes out and takes the form of Isabella. Isabella insists right away that they go without telling anyone.
Geordi’s parents were in Starfleet: his father was an exozoologist, his mother a commanding officer.
Guinan’s imaginary friend was a Tarkassian razorbeast. Isabella keeps pushing Clara to do what she shouldn’t, and creates trouble for her. Isabella becomes annoyed and tells her “I liked you but now I don’t care. Now when the others come, you can die along with everyone else”. The ship has troubles when they meet a sort of red web-like wall inside the nebulosa. Now Clara is scared of Isabella but the others still don’t believe her, at least until Isabella hurts Troi. When she ship troubles get worse Picard wants to talk to Isabella. There are life-forms like her threatening the ship. Isabella says they’re cruel because of how they treat Clara, not letting her do what she wants. Picard explains how adults care for children to protect them. Isabella turns again into a red light and all the lights like her leave the ship alone.
23- I Borg
ITA Io, Borg
45854.2 They find “the wreckage of a small craft. One survivor. It’s a Borg”, adolescent. Beverly doesn’t want to leave him because he’s still alive. Picard wants to use him to ‘infect’ the others and wipe them out. Picard practices fencing with Guinan. The Borg calls himself Third of Five because there were five on she shuttle. When he wants a name they call him Hugh. Both Picard and Guinan hate the Borg, then she talks with him and thinks he’s a person now. So Picard talks to him too, and he is a person now, saying “I am Hugh”. Now Hugh thinks of Geordi as a friend and would like to stay here but the other Borg would follow him and it’d be too dangerous for Geordi and the others so he chooses to go back and they return him to the crash site. Other Borg come to get him.
24- The next phase
ITA Un’altra dimensione
They’re rescuing a Romulan vessel. Ro and Riker are again quarrelling :p While going back to the Enterprise, Ro and Geordi appear to be lost in the transporter. They wake up on some deck but nobody can see them. They pass through objects and everyone thinks they’re dead. Ro thinks she’s dead too, but Geordi won’t accept it. They go back on the Romulan ship and Geordi realizes they’re like cloaked, out of phase, so still alive, because of a new Romulan device. The Enterprise repaired their ship and the Romulans in exchange did something that will make the Enterprise explode as soon as they go to warp speed. Ro and Geordi make it so that they’ll decontaminate the room thus making them visible again so they can warn them. It was an inter-phase device.
25- The inner light
ITA Una vita per ricordare
45944.1 They encounter some kind of probe, and a flash of light makes Picard faint. He wakes up in a home, with a woman calling him Kamin. Kamin’s wife is Eline, they’re in the community of Ressik, northern province, planet Kataan. He’s an iron weaver who loves to play the flute. Five years later, the community still suffer from the drought and Kamin finally accepts to move on with his life. Next scene is 7-8 years later, since they have Meridor, a daughter of probably 6-7 years of age, and a newborn boy called Batai like their dear friend. Next scene, Meridor is grown up, analyzing soil samples. She knows like he does that their planet is dying. Next scene, Batai is grown up and wants to dedicate his life to music. Next, Kamin has a grandson. The community is “sending up a missile”, which is hte same probe that Picard saw. “We hoped our probe would encounter someone in the future, someone who could be a teacher, someone who could tell the others about us”. Their world is gone, 1000 years ago, and now the Enterprise sees that “the probe has shut down”, on its own, and Picard wakes up. He’s been unconscious for 20-25 minutes, but has lived like 35 years on Kataan and now he has to “rediscover that this is really my home”. They opened the probe and Riker brings him a box they found inside. The probe is no longer working - so it has never found anyone before Picard, in 1000 years? Wow.
The rectangular box contains his flute and Picard clutches it tight then plays his lullaby…
26- Time’s arrow
ITA Un mistero dal passato: parte 1
45959.1 “The Enterprisehas been recalled to Sector 001 on a priority mission” and “evidence has been discovered indicating the presence of extraterrestrials on Earth five centuries ago”. They called the Enterprise because they found…Data’s severed head! Data is sure it’s not Lore’s head but his, and it’s from 500 years ago, “it seems clear that my life is to end in the late 19th century” - Riker: “Not if we can help it” - “There is no way anyone can prevent it, sir. At some future date, I will be transported back to 19th century Earth, where I will die. It has occurred. It will occur.”
They find a fossil that can only be from Devidia two in the Marrab Sector, so they go there. Guinan’s thought when she learns about it is: “Full circle”. Troi says that Data describes friendship by saying “as I experience certain sensory input patterns, my mental pathways become accustomed to them. The inputs evenually are anticipated and even missed when absent” and she tells Riker “he’s used to us and we’re used to him”. So when Data asks why people act differently now around him, Riker says “it’s just that our mental pathways have become accustomed to your sensory input patterns” - “I understand. I am also fond of you, commander. And you as well, counselor”.
They find “temporal disturbance” on the planet; we see an empty cave, but Troi feels many many lives, terrified and human. Geordi says they’re all in the same space, but in a different time. Data can do something to see them, then he’s caught in something and ‘wakes up’ in the 19th century San Francisco. Data makes some money by winning at Poker.
Guinan tells Picard that he must join the away team because that’s when they met for the first time. Data sees Guinan’s face on a newspaper above: “literary reception announced”. He goes to see her but she doesn’t know him yet and thinks her dad sent him :p
The away team is: Beverly, Deanna, Riker, Geordi, and Picard! Still in their uniforms. They see that the aliens bring souls of people who died terrified, to feed other aliens. They also enter the temporal portal and vanish. Mr Clemens hears Data and Guinan speak about the future, and that she’s an alien. That’s it for now.
