是!尚先生 Yes! Mr Fashion - 2016

So so. There’s Wang Duo in it, which is what made it watchable to the end, because honestly he’s the only good thing about it, so funny and sweet, I really like this actor, he’s very very good, funny and touching. I wish him a long successful career, but the two leads were not really likeable, no. Yes, it was a nice teenage series, but as it often happens it concentrated too much on the two main characters. I also liked the actresses playing Leng Shan and Victoria whose names are, according to Dramalist, Wu Vivian and Yuan Zi Yi. They were very good too, funny and beautiful and charming.
I’m not doing an episode-by-episode description because I can’t be bothered with that in this series, but I watched all the 28 episodes and this is what happens.
When Shang Bo Ran’s father dies, he learns that the company has been split between him, the deceased’s sister and also Leng Shan, who has been assigned with running it. There’s also a 10% that nobody knows who gets it for a long time. Shang Bo Ran appears to be a spoiled, rich, rude, arrogant, unpleasant guy, who meets Li Xiao Kui and uses her to spy on Leng Shan. She’s the female lead so she’s described as having an irresistible energy, always positive and innocent, but also very invasive and silly. Bo Ran uses a false name and is hired into his own company, along with Xiao Kui. When she meets an old friend who obviously is in love with her, Bo Ran becomes jealous and starts pursuing her in his own arrogant way, but when he comes out with his own name she’s angry that he lied to her, but it doesn’t take much for her to forgive him and even be the one to apologise :-/
He makes a bet that his new project will beat Leng Shan’s new project, and whoever wins will run the company and be the new CEO. Leng Shan’s personal assistant tries to sabotage them; they manage well anyway, but they lose in the end. Xiao Kui is promoted to Leng Shan’s personal assistant and during a visit to her house she sees a picture of a baby, the same picture she has left from her parents who she always thought were dead. When Victoria tells everyone that Leng Shan stole from the company, she’s thrown out and he’s all happy that he defeated her, but then he learns that she’s Xiao Kui’s mother and he falls into depression. We learn now that he apparently has always suffered of chronic depression, and they show it by putting him into a catatonic state, unable to talk or move, for a long time...
When Xiao Kui reveals to Leng Shan that she is her daughter whom she thought was dead, she’s reassured that she never had a relationship with Bo Ran’s father, and when she tells him that she’s not his sister after all he suddenly comes out of his illness and is ok again. Just like that.
His aunt had taken control of the company while he was ill, and now they learn that she had plotted against his mother, I think she actually killed her, and they start working on a plan to take her down. Of course they win and Xiao Kui is now happy with her boyfriend, her mother, and her friends...
What happens is: during a show, they play the recording of her confession, everything she said when she was alone talking to her catatonic nephew, and she’s taken away for questioning.

Bo Ran is, according to Xiao Kui, nice and kind at heart, but he keeps ordering her and his friend Xing Ren around. He had a few nice words for her, that’s true, but never a nice one for his friends. He uses his money to win people over. He secretly paid for Xing Ren’s education, and at the end he buys a house where they can all live in when they lose theirs.

Xiao Kui has indeed a good heart, but she’s too invasive for my taste: waking people up when she thinks it’s the right time, making people exercise whether they want it or not, telling people what to eat, calling Gao Ming lots of times because she hasn’t seen him in a few hours tops... honestly you just want to shout at her to mind her own business and let people live their lives.

The other characters are:
Wang Xing Ren, also called Xiao Wang Wang by his friends. Bo Ran, Xiao Kui and Zhen Ni live in his house. He’s very loyal to Bo Ran who is the most important person to him, although Bo Ran treats him like a servant. He’s a lawyer, although he basically only works for Bo Ran doing whatever he asks him to do. Sometimes he appears to be silly, but at the end it turns out that if they defeated the evil aunt it was all thanks to him, although nobody ever thanked him. He’s the one who thought of hiding a recorder when aunt visited Bo Ran, which was their strongest proof against her. Also, he’s apparently the one who switched Bo Ran’s medicine, since aunt had exchanged them and he was taking stuff that made him worse.

Zhen Ni, Xiao Kui’s best friend, is too much over the line, I guess she’s supposed to be the comedy-part of the show but the character is exaggerated, always too much, and becomes more annoying than funny. Apparently she’s in love with Xing Ren, but their situation is never cleared. He keeps shooing her away and yet he appeared sad when he thought he had to leave the country to take care of Bo Ran and maybe never come back.
Leng Shan, she starts off as the big baddy, then turns into one of them after finding a common enemy and being revealed as the FL’s mom. She even tells Bo Ran that his father entrusted him to her, which doesn’t explain why she was so hostile towards him before, and why she tried to prevent him from running the company, and why she welcomed Victoria’s tricks to ruin their work. Maybe she didn’t suggest it, but she didn’t disapprove of it either.
Director Han, who works for the company too. Xiao Kui admires him very much, and he’s in love with Leng Shan.
Gao Ming, Xiao Kui’s old friend from school, is a fashion designer who starts working for Bo Ran and is in love with her, but when she rejects him he keeps helping her as a friend becoming closer and closer to model Angela, who loves him.
