Scream - 2022

Not a remake, but a sequel. 

It’s… the usual thing, but even more 'too far'. The nice thing was the presence of the same character from the first film, and it’s them that put an end to it in the end. But yes, seen it once, definitely enough.

Tara is home alone, there’s a phone call, she talks to him, he asks about the horror movies Stab (which basically are the Scream movies, but based on Gale’s books).

She hangs up after he asks her to play a game, like in the first film. I guess that’s the reason, because it’d be quite normal for him to know her name since he said he knew her mom. Anyway, he attacks her. Stabbed more than once, still she survives and surgery goes well. Wes calls her sister Sam. The guy had a ghostface-mask on.

Richie drives Sam there, to visit her sister in the hospital. Ghostface calls Sam next, he wanted her here, back in town. Now he tries to kill her right there, in the hospital’s break room, but fails.

He does kill Vince, though, the guy who was stalking Liv, outside a bar.

All the calls came from Amber’s phone, because Ghostface cloned her cell.

Now Sam tells Tara a story. When Tara was 8 their dad went away; Sam was 13 when she found her mom’s old diaries, and read that she was some other man’s daughter and her mom never told anybody. She yelled at mom and dad heard her and that’s why he left. Mom blamed her, Sam felt bad, used drugs, eventually ran away. 

She was feeling guilty for ruining their family but also bad because her real dad is Billy Loomis, the killer in the first film. Now she feels guilty because Tara was attacked because of her. Tara wants her out.

Richie won’t go away even now that he eavesdropped the truth, because he loves her… 

Sam asks for Riley’s help. He calls Sid to tell her the news. He hasn’t seen Gale in two years, and he texts her not to come.

Sam says that she’s Billy’s daughter to all Tara’s group of friends. Vince, the only dead one so far, was indeed connected, because his  mother was Leslie Macher, Stu Macher’s sister.

Nobody (me neither) remembers that he was Bily’s accomplice. Well, now I do. 

Mindy understands the killer is making a sequel of the first Stab movie because fans hated the last one. Mindy also suggests Sam herself might be the killer, and they don’t even know that she sees and talks to Billy’s ghost. 

Ghostface calls Sheriff Judy saying that he’s about to kill her son Wes. She runs home in a panic and Ghostface is there waiting for her and he kills her.

The police still hasn’t arrived, so Ghostface has all the time to kill Wes too. 

After all this, of course Gale arrives. 

We learn that she didn’t leave Riley, he left!!!

Richie bing-watches all the Stab movies, and agrees on the hate towards Stab 8 - real title Stab like the first one… reminds me of something :lol: I was rather surprised about the title of this movie, actually, because it has the same title as the first one, but it is a sequel, not a remake, so it makes no sense.

A police agent came to see about Judy and left the hospital, so Sam and Riley hurry there. Ghostface kills a man of security, attacks Riley then Tara, but Sam and Riley arrive to stop him and Riley actually shoots the guy, and they run away… for whatever reason, at that point it made no sense to run away, they should have stayed and called reinforcements while keeping the gun aimed at Ghostface.

Riley thinks about killing him off and goes back, to get killed instead.

Sid comes back because of it and consoles a brokenhearted Gale.

Sam wants to take Richie and Tarar and run away.

Sid tells her it won’t work, and puts a tracker on her car.

Tara forgot her inhaler so they stop at Amber’s house to get one .

To remember poor Wes, they’re having a party and drinking…

Chad says no to sex for the first time with Liv because he’s not 100% sure she’s not the killer, and then he goes out alone looking for her… quite stupid yeah. He’s attacked and killed.

Sam’s group arrives to stop the party. Sid calls her to tell her to get out, that’s Stu Macher’s house.

Sam tries to help Mindi when she’s attacked, but Ghostface vanishes and now they all suspect each other… until Amber shoots Liv right in the head.

Sid and Gale arrive to end it. Amber shoots Gale so Sid goes in alone. Only now Richie stabs Sam in the “third act bloodbath” when the killers are revealed.

To make the franchise good again.

So, Richie has Sid and Sam in the kitchen - Tara was tied up in some closet, and it wasn’t shown if Sam freed her or not, wanting us to believe that Sam actually suspected her sister, but no, Sam freed her.

Amber goes out to get Gale.

Together Sid and Gale, though injured, almost kill Amber. Sam, though injured, kills Richie in a bloodbath. Tara shoots Amber to finish her off.

Mindy is well enough, as is someone else… is it Chad? Really?

Sam and Tara, Sid and Gale are all alive. 

And all of a sudden it seems the town actually has lots of cops, where were they before? 

Anyway , that’s the end.
