Girl from nowhere - Dek mai - season 2

I liked the first season better, for one single reason. The Yuri thing. Without that, I would have liked this one the same. I mean the character of Yuri, of course. The actress is good, the character is not. That makes this second season a darker one, it adds evil to the scene. Especially the fourth and last episodes. The story of Yuri, the fourth episode, has lots evil people, who win by the way, and so does the last one.

1

Nanai is… playboy is the word men likes, I would choose others quite different. At his school, he likes to play around, sleep with girls, make them pregnant and leave them.

When Nanno comes to this school, everyone starts betting on how long will it take for him to win her over… and Nanno wins the bet. She’s a player like him, she says, and he got played.

He’s out of sorts now, no more good at sports, can’t get it up… he breaks up with Nanno and she cries, then laughs. He said she makes him feel like an object, she replies that’s how he viewed her, and now maybe he’ll start feeling something inside…

Nanno doesn’t interact much with the pregnant girl Petch that Nanai left. She tells her: “if you see yourself as a victim, that’s what you’ll be”. She actually did take an abortion pill like the other girls before her, but it failed, and she was happy about it.

Nanai starts having nausea, getting ‘fat’, can’t do it with other girls. Doc asks if he had a transgender operation or is probably hermaphrodite, because he’s four months along, pregnant with a girl. He keeps feeling nauseous, gets bigger and bigger; he can’t run for Student President anymore, he has nightmares, wears big jackets. His dad is like him, just the same, he got his secretary to abort and now he kicks out his son because he couldn’t sort it out quickly with money. I think he did try the abortion pill but threw it out. He tried again, more than one pill and threw up blood; he took a knife but a knock on the door stopped him. A girl left a note making him think on how he got pregnant. He confronts Nanno but only gets his own “we had fun” back in his face.

He apologises crying to Petch. She’s nice and at peace, and happy when she has her child.

He paid a doctor to get rid of his baby, but the girl was born instead. He actually thinks of strangling her for a fleeting moment, but he can’t, instead he starts breastfeeding her.

Nanno leaves him alone, won’t get back with him, but we see that someone was stalking her, took lots of pictures of her, and left a bloody “see you soon” message for her.

A strict female school is losing money so they have to merge with a boy’s school. Ms Naruemol is not happy about it, she fights against it but she can’t avoid it. She has rules though:

-not laughing at the boys’ jokes, it’s not ladylike; -social distancing , boys away from girls; separate classes, but also: boys can’t have sugary drinks or chocolate, because it can stimulate desire. And more. 34 rules so far, and the boys are exhausted, too much exercise for them.

There’s no contact whatsoever until Nanno adds the girls to a chat group. Her phone is confiscated, and rules 41 becomes no chatting between boys and girls.

rule 76: it’s forbidden to show or think feelings for the other sex.

Nanno tells the girls of a new app, True Love: it’s for anonymous chats, and everybody loves it. Ms Naruemol is angry, but Nanno suggests the teacher should use it too, to monitor what’s going on. She uses it, and chats with a sympathetic soul.

Rule 94 is ‘boys and girls can’t be alone together’

There’s new rules, they have classes in different buildings, and so on. When she sees a boy and a girl alone in a classroom, she beats them up with a broom even though they weren’t doing anything. The boy has a cut on his head, he bleeds. So she is fired.

I think she was in love with her best friend, until she got a boyfriend. The poor friend Ruthai died from blood loss after an abortion.

At the end the app reveals the faces of the matched people, and Ms Naruemol was paired with the teacher that was helping her, the woman who admired her so much. They even kiss right there in front of the school

Nanno was matched with a girl with a red string in her hair.

The episode ‘where poor people have no power, and only how much money you have will determine your fate’.

The headmistress says Minnie cheated on her exam, which is true, so her dad gives good money to the school and grounds her; the spoiled girl doesn’t care, she still takes the car and drives: it’s raining, she’s drinking and video-chatting while driving (!!!) Of Course there is an accident!!!

She wakes up with four or five people injured, and Nanno is one of them. She takes Nanno’s phone to call daddy.

There are four victims,17-18 years old. Dad helps her or his company would be ruined too. He says on tv that she doesn’t drink, but the whole school saw her in the past get totally drunk, so they all hate her.

Dad wants her to give a statement saying she didn’t drink but the other car’s driver parked negligently. She’s reluctant at first, but not for long, and she does it. The social media hate her.

The red-string-girl is one of the ‘dead’. She blackmails the father with photos.

Minnie wants her friend to say the same, that the breaks weren’t working. She keeps seeing the dead girls. Her mum wants to believe in her innocence.

The verdict was shared culpability between her and the driver who parked in a dangerous place. She pas to pay some money and do hours of social services. After Minnie and her father hear that and take a taxi back home, the car has an accident, the breaks don’t work.

Minnie wakes up in that same minibus alone, with Nanno and two men who bear her up badly and maybe kill her, and then she wakes up there again where a couple of parents saw her hand, then she wakes up at home where her parents kill her. Nanno tells her that it’s her father who’s really hurting her before he strangles her.

And then she wakes up in a hospital. Nanno talks to her and goes out; enters red-string girl: she gave a tv channel the pictures of Minnie drinking while driving, also a recording of the father threatening her about the pictures.

The only way out is death, and Minnie takes off her life support stuff.

Nanno meets red-string and says “Hello Yuri”

The story of how Yuri became red-string girl, sort of.

Friendship is precious, but what is the price of friendship? It started three months ago. Yuri is poor but has two wealthy friends. They bought her ice cream yesterday, today they give her a bag and defend her against gossiping girls.

Nanno is the new girl in school and wants to enter their group. She must prove she knows how to be a true friend. They refuse her help for cheating, but then they treat Yuri like a waitress, and we learn that Yuri mistreated another girl who flirted with Nana’s boyfriend… Nanno tells her: you’re their server, the friend who does everything for them, destroys their enemies, gives them notes to study, helps them cheat safely, in exchange for money. A servant.

Now Nanno gets the money for changing an answer in Nana’s test. Instead of getting angry, Yuri owns her part, admits it’s a well paid job for her, and shows Nanno where she lives. The phone she bought was for her mother. Yuri dreams of treating them the same way, and Nanno tells her there’s power in secrets, so Nanno sneaks into Nana’s room to look at her pc, and finds videos of rapes. The three girls bring girls to a secret place where they get raped and filmed. Nanno is brought there too. She is defiant, smiling, she says she uploaded everything on the cloud, she keeps laughing and Nana kills her with her friend Tubtim, while Yuri watches smiling and filming the whole thing. When they order Yuri to get rid of the body, put it in a bathtub to make it look like a suicide (stupid girls other than evil), Yuri refuses, she now has the video of them killing someone and can blackmail them too. They offer her money, but no number is enough at this point. Yuri has the girls put Nanno’s body in a bathtub then she calls in two men and tells them to do what they want with the girls while she films everything, and she goes to talk to Nanno’s body. She tells Nanno she does not need help, she’s not as helpless as she made her think. She just wanted the names of the victims so she could blackmail them herself, directly. Once they’re done with Nana and her friend (I’m not even sure if they’re still alive, or not) the two men drown Yuri in the same bathtub Nanno’s body is in, then they take everything and go out. Nanno wakes up and walks out, leaving her blood in the water to absorbed by Yuri’s. It’s not clear if Nanno had any idea of what would happen at this point. From her words, implying this was a bad end for Yuri, it would seem not, but then before going out she turns one last time to look in that direction, as if wondering.

Apparently what happened is that Yuri got Nanno’s blood in herself so she rose again, becoming not-human like Nanno, immortal. Which is not good, given her character.

Ever did something simply because it had always been that way?

Yuri thanks Nanno for bringing her back to life.

In the same school, the new kids suffer cruel initiation tests from the upper years, Kaye especially; they’re cruel, disgusting and humiliating. Kaye was also beaten when he was new, but now that he’s older he does the same and more. He ends up killing Nanno, with the principal covering for him because he’s an old friend of his father.

Kaye has to change school though, and at the new place, Nanno is one of the elders. She scares him a lot right away, so he tries to run away but is caught.

Another test is about dresses. Honestly, it seems to me like the others were treating the dress-up initiation like a game, but he couldn’t. The others were punished with lots of exercise and were angry at him. He tried to attack the dog that he had to bow to, and was put on a leash in its place. Yuri frees him, says she’s impatient, so when Kaye runs away the others are sent to look for him. He runs away, hides in the back of a truck but in the morning he wakes up and the truck is parked at the camp. Yuri killed the dog and now tells the others to hit Kaye in the head in revenge and they do it. But it ends there, we don’t know how far it will go…

It is said that rules are there for the people, but there’s no integrity in those that uphold them and these rules end up crushing the people following them.

Nanno enters a new school with lots of rules, in a military style. There are even bag inspections. Also, two students have been closed in a room for two days. There are 427 rules in this school, from 1892. Nanno sets fire to the rule book so she’s put in the ‘room’.

The girl in there says whatever is expected of her to get out, they boy doesn’t want to, but teacher A makes good threats so he apologises too.

Nanno is put there and ordered to learn the rules. The next day she’s out, somehow, and is put back in, with a sort of ‘lights-in-and-out-always-flashing sort of torture, but she’s out again, with purple hair and piercings.

Teacher A pulls her tongue out. Yuri comes to the school too. She ‘kills’ Nanno and reveals the school secrets to everyone - I only know of the one involving stealing money.

All kids capture and beat up the adults. Yuri wants them to write a confession, but Teacher A is a tough bastard, so New holds her down to force her to write all she did to him, and accidentally strangles her. The principal comes in with a gun so the adults are free again, and the principal blames it all on Yuri, and orders the ‘remorseful’ students to teach a lesson to the still-rebel ones.

But Yuri blames Nanno, and then four Nannos appear and the principal threatens her with the gun, but the kids start recording, so he has to yield.

The four Nanno lock Yuri in the room with the adults, and Nanno gives the kids the key to the school and they go. But… what? Outside they are still all grey? It’s a bit early to say, it’s basically night.

In the last scene, Yuri comes out all bloody and screams.

“We exist as long as people are watching us”, “but what must we sacrifice to get people’s attention”.

Jane, as Jenny X, goes live from home talking about homework and life, helped by her parents. She gets money from the products she uses, like what she drinks, but now all viewers leave because there’s something happening and her dad makes her stop because she could not get her viewers back, because “suicide is trending number one on twitter”.

She’s famous in school and acts kindly to everyone.

Nanno is in her seat, but won’t leave it. She followed her livestream as a big fan. Nanno is all ‘you can say what you really want, you don’t have to be lonely or sad’ at her, and then Jane has her seat back. She’s also on a diet because her mom wants her to stay in shape.

Nanno gives her other food, it looks like wurstel to me, and convinces her that she can let the mask down with her. So Jane tells her of how her parents have her use and review all kinds of products, not caring if they’re good or if she’s tired or anything as long as they get paid. (Did she ever try to stop, to tell her parents or not?)

Jane says she’d like to disappear, so Nanno tells her to leave this world completely… so she does a livestream telling people how she’s sick of it all and just wants to die, and asks for help in where to cut herself, then chooses herself to cut her throat while her parents see it all and are devastated. That was Nanno’s plan, to fake her death. Now she goes by Rosy, she changed hair color, she got piercings and tattoos. But then Yuri goes on tv saying it might be all fake, that she was Jane’s best friend… Rosy can’t let it go, and goes to meet Yuri, who does her best to make her distrust Nanno, and does a good job of it. Even suggests killing Nanno, the only one with proof of what she did. After she says she doesn’t want to be Rosy anymore, Nanno puts the knife in her hands and Jane kills her; she calls Yuri and they scheme to make it look like a crazy Nanno kidnapped her and forced her to do stuff, like the piercings and stuff, but nobody believes her sudden livestream because Nanno is now Jenny X, she lives in her home with her parents who love her. They loved her too, she didn’t see it.

Jane’s life is ruined, and she asks Nanno if she really deserved all this. Nanno doesn’t answer, and Yuri tells her that she’s now doubting what she’s doing here, and that makes her mortal, which is why her injury has not healed yet.

“Right to punish the wrongdoers is given to people in charge. What if they are the one being persecuted?”

Nanno still has a scar on her throat, but is still going around to dole out punishments.

Junko is a girl really good at biology, she’s in a wheelchair and has haemophilia, and her mom has corpses in a room. Nanno finds out the woman is drugging her daughter to be weal and making money from people’s donations.

After Nanno confronts her, it turns out that Junko is the killer, she killed the girls that bullied her and the teachers that never helped her and instead treated her badly, but Yuri switched the medicine. Yuri sees Junko as she sees herself, victims who have a right to their revenge and to kill, so now Junko is strong and tries to kill her mother. Yuri taunts Nanno to decide what to do, and in the end Nanno stops the knife when Junko is about to kill her mother. Nanno bleeds. The woman then kills Nanno, then Junko kills her. Junko and Yuri watch the corpses. Yuri says she’ll give people the power to destroy one another. Then she has Junko lick her blood. Are they the same now?

Junko and Yuri leave, but we see a Nanno-like figure (from the back, but that’s her for sure, right?) wondering if she’s necessary in this new world.

...

Really? After she frees on the world a Yuri and a Junko, both immortal and evil and murderous, now she

wonders if she's necessary? She's extremely needed to stop them from extinguishing the human race...
