The one where Chandler was all skinny.
1 - The one with the princess Leia fantasy
Janice is getting a divorce and going out with Chandler now. Joey hates it, but Chandler tells him very seriously he has no intention of breaking up with her.
Monica is destroyed about her break up. She can’t sleep, can’t function at all, and only manages to sleep after her father visits her and tells her Richard looked terrible
Rachel asks Ross if he has any fantasies in bed, and he tells her about Leia’s golden bikini. She speaks about it to Phoebe to understand it, and then she has to explain to Ross that she tells everything to her girlfriends, they share everything.
2 - The one where no one's ready
Ross has an important ceremony to attend, but everyone else takes it easy, nobody else is dressed but him. He is very very obsessive about it and hurts her feeling and she almost refuses to go.
Monica hears an old message from Richard, so she called him and left him a message, then a lot of craziness ensues and she ends up changing his ‘outgoing’ message with her own, very embarrassing.
3 - The one with the jam
Monica makes a lot of jam to do something instead of crying all the time. After that, she wants to have a baby with the help of a sperm-donor.
Ross teaches Chandler how to get some space to sleep instead of cuddling all night. He tries, but goes too far and makes her fall off the bed. Janice accidentally tells Rachel about Ross’ idea, then. Ross is quite pissed at Chandler.
Malcolm stalks Phoebe because he thought she was Ursula. She starts dating him but then finds out he’s still stalking Ursula, so she stops dating him but tries to help him allowing him to stalk her instead.
4 - The one with the metaphorical tunnel
Ross is upset because Ben’s favourite toy is a Barbie doll, and he doesn’t rest until he changes that. He basically brainwashes him into liking the GI Joe doll.
Joey lost an audition because Phoebe forgot to give him a message, so she takes the phone and pretends to be his agent and gets him another chance, and he is accepted, so Joey asks her to get him other auditions. She tries, but it’s hard for her to give him bad news. At first he insists, saying he wants to know what they told her so he can work on it, but then the bad comments get too hard to hear so he goes back to Estelle.
Chandler is afraid things are going to fast with Janice, but he also doesn’t want to be scared anymore, so he gives her a drawer as a present and goes all-in and starts talking about moving in together, which may not scare him anymore but scares her and she runs away. He goes to Monica and Rachel for advice, scared he might lose her. But them she calls him and they make up.
5 - The one with Frank Jr.
Phoebe spends some time with Frank jr. When he hears she’s a masseuse he thinks she’s a prostitute.
The guys discuss their Freebie-list: celebrities they’re allowed to sleep with. He wanted to put Isabella Rossellini in there, but then he opted for someone more local. Then she actually walks into their coffee place, and he tries hitting on her…
Joey is doing manual work and redoes Monica’s bathroom floor. He actually does a good job there, which leaves it a mystery how he made a mess of the furniture in his own apartment.
6 - The one with the flashback
Three years ago:
Monica and Phoebe were living together, but since Phoebe couldn’t stand her neurotics any longer, she moved out.
Ugly naked guy was still cute naked guy.
Chandler was looking for a roommate, and was thinking of a photographer who would bring models in. The only reason Joey lives there is because Mr Heckles sent the other guy away.
Ross was married, and Carol just met Susan.
They used to hang out at a bar, drinking beer and playing pool, but it was about to close and be turned into the Central Perk.
So, Monica thought Joey was really cute, but when he invites him for a lemonade he strips down naked. When Monica learns Phoebe moved out, she’s all sad and Chandler comforts her and tells her she’s the most beautiful woman in the world. Ross learns Carol is a lesbian after seven years together and Phoebe comforts him. Rachel just got engaged and was so spoiled and uncaring of a waitress’ work, but also already scared of marrying Barry and sort of daydreaming to have an affair with the guy she met at the bar (Chandler).
Ross and Phoebe actually kissed.
7 - The one with the race car bed
Gunther is in love with Rachel.
Janice’s ex-husband is the mattress king. There’s a huge discount so Monica goes with Phoebe to buy a new one. Phoebe is there when the delivery guys bring the wrong one, but Monica is not there to prevent it. When Monica goes to change it, Joey goes with her and sees Janice kissing her ex.
Rachel wants one dinner with Ross and her dad, for them to get along. It’s a tough dinner, the man is not really easy-going, and then when he pays the bill and only leaves 4%tip, Ross is upset and tries to leave 20$ . Mr Green sees that and has him pay the whole bill. The nest day they meet at Rachel’s place and the two men bond over criticising her choices…
Joey gets a job as a teacher on soap-opera acting. One of his students is quite good and also gets an audition for a role Joey wants himself, so he gives him a bad advice hoping to get the part himself, but the cast people chose the young man anyway.
8 - The one with the giant poking device
Phoebe has toothache but doesn’t want to go to the dentist because people die when she does.
Rachel wants to take care of Ben when Ross has to work. Monica is there too and while playing with Ben she accidentally bumps his head…
Chandler wants to buy pearls for Janice’s birthday, so Joey tells him he saw her kissing her ex. Chandler confronts her but she is in love with both of them and doesn’t know what to do, and Joey tells him that since they have a kid together, and are a family, they should get a chance to make it work. So he tells her to go back to Gary and she’s moved, says that she and Chandler are soulmates, and then Chandler changes him mind and begs her to stay.
9 - The one with the football
It’s Thanksgiving, and Joey suggests playing football between them. Rachel and Phoebe want to, and they convince Chandler to move on after his break up and play with them. Monica and Ross are not supposed to, because their mom forbid it, since 12 years before when she broke his nose, they were so competitive. They play anyway.
They see a pretty Dutch girl and Chandler is offended by his statement that if he didn’t let him have her he wouldn’t stand a chance against him.
The whole thing gets rather rough, then Ross has the Dutch girl choose between them, she chooses Chandler, he does such a scene that she goes away alone.
They change teams, girls against boys, but it’s still a massacre, until the others go home to eat while Monica and Ross are still fighting for the ball.
10 - The one where Rachel quits
Ross accidentally breaks a little girl’s leg. Sarah’s a cute girl who wants to go to space camp and who has a father who spends everything gambling. Ross starts selling boxes to his friends (making Monica dependent again for a while) and then sells a lot more, and he thinks he made it, but no.
Rachel takes the waitress training again. She hates the job. Chandler tells her that she just gave up on finding something she likes, so she quits her job there, and when she’s freaking out about not having a job Joey offers her an interview at a fashion place, and they hire her. But it turns out she has to make coffee there too.
Joey works selling Christmas trees, and Phoebe is sorry for the trees.
11 - The one where Chandler can't remember which sister
The girls have a new, noisy neighbour upstairs but he’s apparently so charming that they can’t fight him.
Rachel hates his new job, but while she’s complaining to Monica (poor Monica with the wig and the fake boobs selling hamburger while she wants to be a star-chef), a guy tells her of a job position at Bloomingdale (nice, good-looking guy offering you your dream job… yeah…) and when she tells Ross he tells her he wants to have sex with her, otherwise no man is kind to a stranger woman for no reason.
Chandler is still depressed about his break up that at Joey’s birthday party he drinks so much he’s completely wasted and ends up fooling around with one of Joey’s sisters and can’t even remember which one she was. He’s scared to death of Joey’s reaction, because of course Joey is one of those big jerks that treats all women like objects but if someone else dare kiss his sister it’s a major thing.
Rachel calls Marc and he gets her an interview, she gets the job, and Ross is crazy jealous.
12 - The one with all the jealousy
Ross is even more jealous, Rachel works with Mark, they are Joanna’s two assistants. He covers her desk with gifts and pictures of him, and even sends four men to send to her at her job place (a barbershop quartet) and he’s not even sorry, but defends his position. He even goes there himself and shoves him off before realising he was about to kiss another girl, not Rachel.
They fight but then finally Ross apologises. She can’t understand his jealousy, and he explains that he was with Carol for seven, eight years and he still lost her, and he loves Rachel even more.
Then Ross has a playdate with Ben, a stripper and her son, and now she is a bit jealous.
Joey has a shot at a Broadway play, but he lied a lot on his resumes and people think he can dance. He tries for as long as he can, but eventually he runs away.
Monica goes out with a guy that works at her place, but when he show Phoebe the poem he wrote, Phoebe explains to her it means that he thinks of her as empty and shallow, or something like that.
13 - The one where Monica and Richard are just friends
Monica meets Richard (without moustache) and they start talking and laughing and they start spending time together. Her friends are worried, after she spent six months getting over him. They talk about being friends, but of course end up sleeping together. It’s not long before she wants more, much more and they have to separate again.
Joey likes reading The Shining (putting it in the freezer when he gets scared) and has a deal with Rachel to read Little Women while she reads that. He is confused by the names (Jo is a girl and Laurie is a boy…). When he tells her the end, she tells him stuff too, then she says that Beth dies and he’s so shocked she has to say it was a lie. When he reads up to Beth getting sick, Rachel puts the book in the freezer.
Phoebe’s new boyfriend wears shorts with nothing underneath apparently, because the boys can see his bits. They all see it but he has no clue (…) until finally Gunther notices and tells him.
14 - The one with Phoebe's ex partner
Phoebe’s ex sing-partner sings at the Central Perk and people like her. Leslie left to do jingles alone, but lately they fired and now she wants to get back together. They were best friends once, and Leslie really hurt her when she left. Leslie calls and calls, and eventually Phoebe gives in and goes back to her. They are together for a bit, but then Leslie sells “Smelly cat” for a jingle.
Chandler meets a girl, Ginger, and it turns out that once while she was going out with Joey, he threw her artificial leg in the fire (by accident) and then ran away. Now Chandler is going out with her, and when he learns about her leg he freaks out. He tries to be ok with it, and they go out again, but then she freaks out because of his third nipple and leaves him. So he has it removed.
Rachel has to work late often. Ross is happy to know that Mark has a better job now, but they will still see each other because Rachel thinks of him as her friends, and Ross is still jealous. He insists to go with her to a lecture instead of Mark, but then he got so bored he started snoring, and they have a fight.
15 - The one where Ross and Rachel take a break
Phoebe goes out with a guy who doesn’t speak English and they have a translator with them always. Phoebe asks Monica to go out with them as the translator’s date, but gets annoyed when they talk too much instead of translating.
Rachel has a work emergency and has to work even on their anniversary. Ross goes there with a picnic and starts making noise so she yells at him and sends him home. Back home, he does not apologise, he keeps putting it on her not having time for him, and he goes on about having a relationship with her answering machine (it’s been what, two weeks? Jerk) then he brings up Mark, so she calls for a break. He goes out so he’s not there when she calls, and instead of calling her he tells his friends they broke up, then he calls her but hears that Mark’s at her place and gets angry, then he gets drunk and ends up kissing Chloe.
16 - The one with the morning after
Rachel wants to make it work with Ross, there’s a great message on his answering machine, and when she comes she doesn’t realise that Chloe is still there. Later the boys tell him he can’t tell her what happened, and they warn him to cut the trail before she learns about it, so he runs around trying to prevent that, but Chloe told her best friend who told his sister. She did not tell Phoebe (they work together) but she did tell her roommate, who happens to he Gunther, who already told Rachel when Ross got to him.
Monica and Phoebe try on a new wax which was supposed to be painless, but it’s not. They yell, the boys come to help and they get trapped in her room while Rachel and Ross come back fighting. Hours and hours of arguement, he apologises and begs but she’s too hurt, and he’s a different person to her now and it’s over.
17 - The one without the ski trip
It’s tough for the friends because Ross and Rachel can’t be in a room together without fighting, and they either make plans with him or with her. It’s so stressful that Chandler smokes again.
At a stop, they all get out of the car, (Phoebe’s grandma’s taxi), for some unknown reason the car immediately gets locked with the car inside, so Joey opens it with a bra’s wire, then they are out of gas.
Ross imposes on Carol’s special night with Susan but then Phoebe calls him so he goes to help them, bringing them gas for the car.
(This is the start of the whole “we were on a break!!” mantra, it was so annoying, come on, I couldn’t stand it and I started hoping that they wouldn’t prolong this too much, but of course they did it :/ Sure, maybe her reaction was a bit too much, just a bit, but the fact that he kept insisting he was in his rights to sleep with someone else only because they were on a break is pathetic and beyond jerk. And basically annuls all his apologises, if you think about it.)
18 - The one with the hypnosis tape
Phoebe’s half-brother Frank jr arrives with news that he’s getting married; he’s 18, and his fiancee is his ex teacher, much older than him. Phoebe asks the guys to talk to Frank, but he’s really convinced about his relationship. Phoebe talks with Alice though, and when she breaks up with Frank he’s devastated, and awfully disappointed when she tells him it’s her fault, so Phoebe brings Alice to explain to him why they shouldn’t be together, but they end up making out on her couch.
There’s a customer at Monica’s place of work that insists on asking her out but she’s not sure, she’s not attracted to him. Chandler knows that he’s a millionnaire, but she’s still not sure. She also gets annoyed thinking he wants to buy her with big tips, but he only wants to convince her to go out with him. She does, and he takes her out for a pizza, in Rome.
Rachel gave Chandler a tape that should hypnotize him to make him stop smoking, but he doesn’t realise for a long time that the tape says ‘you’re a strong woman…” and he starts acting like one.
19 - The one with the tiny t-shirt
Rachel gives Ross his stuff back, and he acts all petty and stupid.
Mark asks Rachel out and she goes, and Ross speaks like a jerk again. When Mark kisses her though, she stops him and sends him home. Chandler stops him from interrupting Rachel’s date, and at the end he gives her back her favourite t-shirt.
Joey has a role in a play, but he has problems with the snob lead actress. He has a crush on her, but she’s with the director.
Monica keeps going out with Pete, and she likes everything about him but is simply not attracted to him at all.
20 - The one with the dollhouse
Chandler meets Rachel’s boss Joanna, and she wants to go out with him. They do, but while Chandler thought she was dull, she is crazy about him. He said he’ll give her a call, just as a saying, but she really expects him to call and drives Rachel crazy, so she insists Chandler calls her boss. They go out again, but he can’t avoid telling her he’d call her again.
Monica’s horrible aunt dies and she finally gets the dollhouse she desperately wanted as a child. Monica tells Phoebe they can play together, but then she can’t bear any of Phoebe’s extravaganza. So Phoebe brings her own bizarre dollhouse, but it burns out.
Joey is still mad about Kate. The rehearsals are tough, and since she’s with the director he goes out with another actress, Kate’s understudy. Of course, Joey and Kate end up sleeping together, and he really likes her, but she doesn’t mean to leave the director, and wants to leave it at that. He learns for the first time how it feels to be left like that.
21 - The one with the chick and the duck
Chandler has a goatee.
Joey is still down about Kate and he buys chicks. One, but still. To give it back it would mean to have it killed, so Chandler gets home with a duck too.
Pete buys a restaurant and wants Monica to be head chef. She’s troubled but then he kisses her and she likes it, so it’s ok.
Ross has a chance to appear on tv for his work, but Rachel is hurt and he stays with her instead, bringing her to the hospital. She’s moved when she learns about the discovery channel.
22 - The one with the screamer
Everyone goes to see Joey’s play. Ross brings Karen so Rachel brings Tommy. Ross is the only one to notice that Tommy is weird and aggressive. He tries to tell them but they just think he’s jealous , until they see him yelling at the chick and the duck.
The reviews are awful, but worse about the director and Kate than about Joey. Joey takes home a drunk Kate and they spent the night talking and he’s all happy about being with her, but next day she isn’t at the play because she got another job in LA. Well, General Hospital, so he can’t really expect her to stay for him come on!
Phoebe stays hours next to the phone for a complaint waiting for them to answer her. She thinks it’s a free number but it’s instead a Utah number, so after two days they force her to hang up.
23 - The one with Ross's thing
Phoebe goes out with Vince the fireman and also Jason the kindergarten teacher. It becomes stressful so she plans to break up with Vince, but then he turns out to be sensitive too and she can’t. Jason turns out to have a great body too, so she really can’t decide. Eventually they meet each other and Jason leaves because she slept with Vince but not with him, and Vince leaves her because she used candles in a park.
Ross has something weird on his body and nobody seems to know what it is. Lots of doctors consult on it looking at his bum. He wants to get rid of it and eventually it goes away when a guru’s watch snatches it off.
Monica is worried Pete is going to break up with her because he said ‘they need to talk’ but then Joey finds a check to a ‘ring designer’ and they all think Pete’s going to propose to her. When they talk, it turns out Pete actually wants to become a fighter and that’s the kind of ring he had paid for.
24 - The one with the ultimate fighting champion
Monica is about to tell them when two guys sit on their couch and have a scene. Robin Williams and Billy Crystal.
Chandler’s new boss likes to slap butts and he’s not comfortable with that. Eventually he has to tell him to stop and, to be fair, the boss stops. Later, when everybody gets smacked but him, he feels left out and wants it too.
Phoebe’s friend Bonnie wants a date with Ross. Phoebe asks Rachel first, but she says ok because she thinks the girl is bald and therefore not attractive (kind of mean of her though) but Bonnie was bald two years ago, not anymore. Ross likes her. Rachel is jealous.
Monica goes to see Pete’s first match and it’s a bloodbath. She hoped it would be the end, but he doesn’t want to stop until he’s a champion. After she sees him all broken (seriously, physically broken) she can’t go on like that and leaves him.
25 - The one at the beach
Once again, Chandler implies that if Monica doesn’t find a boyfriend, they’ll get together so she won’t become an old spinster.
Phoebe finds out that a friend of her parents when they were at school lives near, so they all go to the beach because she wants to meet her.
Phoebe keeps flirting with Ross but then Bonnie joins them and she’s all jealous, so she suggests to her shaving her head again.
Learning that she’s jealous and still loves him, Ross kisses her.
The other Phoebe says she doesn’t know where Frank is, but then she tells her that she’s actually her mom.
End of season, letting you wonder if Ross will enter Bonnie’s room or Rachel’s room.
