Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets - 2002

The kids are growing up :p they are still children and yet non so small nd tender as they were before. They are twelve now.

It starts with a sad Harry who has received no letters from his friends, and a frustrated Edwig that is kept in her cage as to uncle Vernon's orders. It's going to be a special dinner for the Dursley and they want him to hide in his room (Dudley's second bedroom) and pretend he doesn't exist, but then Harry finds Dobby the house elf in his room, making lots of noise when he keeps punishing himself, and also insisting he can't go back to Hogwarts because it will be dangerous. Dobby stole his letters, and to force matters, he has the big cake made by aunt Petinia fall on the head of the lady guest. This enrages Vernon, and he puts bars outside Harry's window saying he'll never go back to school.

Ron arrives to rescue him with Fred and George driving their dad's flying car, and take him home with them. Vernon falls down the window trying to stop Harry from escaping. Mum is very upset with them.

When their letters arrive (Harry's too) they go to Diagon Alley via floo, but it was Harry's first time and he did it wrong... he ends up in a dark place. He goes out and is scared by all the scary people out there. He was in Knocturn Alley, but luckily Hagrid found him. They meet Hermione who repairs his glasses again (the only one who always notices) and the children join the Weasley again to go get their books. Lockhart gifts him his books that Molly wants to get signed, apparently all witches are crazy about him. Draco sees the scene and comes to taunt him.  (What page did Draco rip from the book he was reading, and why???)

Lucius arrives and Harry does shake his hand. Lucius makes it pretty clear what his opinion of muggles is, thinking Weasley is a disgrace to wizards because he associates with muggles and stuff...

At the train station, they all hurry to the train, leaving Ron and Harry behind, but they can't pass through the barrier. Harry suggests waiting by the car, and Ron has the idea of flying it to Hogwarts.

As they arrive, the car stops working, Ron breaks his wand and they land on the tree, which starts battering the car until it falls down. The car then ejects both them and their stuff and drives away by itself.

Snape is furious with them for being seen by muggles and damaging the whomping willow, and he'd like to expel them (of course, saying the willow had been there since before they were born does not say much, they are only 12 after all...) but of course Dumbledore and McGonagall will not. Dumbledore 's tone of voice is very irritating, as if he loaths Snape which is very annoying indeed

Lesson 1, repotting mandrakes: Longbottom faints and a mandrake bites Draco's finger.

Colin Creevey takes pictures of Harry. Ron puts some tape to keep his broken wand in one piece, and also receives an howler at breakfast. His mum is very angry. Lockhart is such a peacock, and all the girls crush on him, even Hermione. He has a whole cage of Cornish Pixies, and it's total chaos when he open it. He's not able to do anything more than flee the room, finally Hermione uses Immobulus.

The Quidditch team learns that Draco made the team and bought everyone new brooms. Draco calls Hermione a filthy little mudblood and Ron curses him with his broken wand and it backfires and it's very disgusting when he keeps vomiting slugs.

They go to Hagrid and somehow Hermione is the one to teach the kids what mudblood means. How does she know??? Not likely that she found it out in a book.

Harry's detention with Lockhart is very boring, but at least not dangerous. Harry hears a voice that nobody else can hear and runs to follow, then  finds the petrified Mrs Norris. All of the sudden the whole castle seems to assemble right there...

During a class with McGonagall, Hermione asks about the chamber of secrets. She does answer... but let me tell you, this tale of Salazar being so opposed to muggleborns and stuff... it does not make complete sense, you know, since the four founders built the school together and all, to think that they were so different...

Slytherin vs Griffindor quidditch game, a bludger goes mad, even destroying the stands in its mad pursuit of Harry. And nobody does anything... I mean, of course not Snape, sit next to Lucius Malfoy as he is, bit what about Dumbledore? We even see Hermione destroying the ball at the end, after Harry is on the ground, still no adult doing anything...

After Lockhart vanishes his arm bones, he spends the night in the infirmary and Dobby appears to confess that he is behind the bludger and also he stopped the barrier from opening for him... he insists Harry must leave Hogwarts...

Hermione starts brewing the polijuice potion during the day in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.

Lockhart starts his dueling club, Snape floors him with an expelliarmus, then Snape suggests teaching the children defensive spells... and for that they have Potter and Malfoy duel on stage... after Draco casts Serpensortia, Snape wants to help get rid of it, but Lockhart complicates things as usual, then Harry talks to it and they all learn he can talk to snakes.

When the attacks go on, students being petrified, McGonagall takes him to Dumbledore's office... and leaves him there, alone! Finally Dumbledore appears but Harry tells him nothing... of course not, how could he ever trusts an adult with his secrets, given the adults around him...??

A month has passed, the potion is ready, Harry and Ron turn into Crabbe and Goyle ( although their voices are still their own...). (Ron is Crabbe and Harry is Goyle)

Malfoy appears and leads them to the Slytherin common room, they have just the time to learn that Malfoy had no idea who the heir of Slytherin is, that they have to run, already turning back into themselves.

Hermione is half cat now. Myrtle complains someone threw a book at her, and Harry picks it up. It's a blanc book with the name Tom Marvolo Riddle written on it. Of course he doesn't know who it is, perish the thought that the kids were taught anything at all...

Harry asks the book about the chamber, and is shown a scene from 50 years back. Riddle was worried the school would be closed if the responsible for a student's death was not found, he had nowhere else to go... Harry sees Riddle confront Hagrid about his monster-friend, and that's how it happened that Hagrid was expelled.

Harry's stuff has been ransacked, someone got Riddle's diary.

The next Quidditch game is cancelled (Oliver Wood is shocked about that). Hermione has been petrified too.

Harry takes out his invisibility cloak to sneak out to see Hagrid with Ron, when Dumbledore arrives with minister Fudge. Lucius arrives too. Hagrid is to be taken to Azkaban, and Dumbledore himself have been suspended. Before leaving, Hagrid tells the kids to "follow the spiders" and they do (how is it that there are still spiders leaving Hogwarts? It's been more than a month since we saw spiders fleeing, isn't it???). Inside the forest, they are confronted by a huge, gigantic talking spider. Aragog would happily leave them to be eaten  by all the "family" of spiders, luckily Ron's car comes to the rescue... no explanation will ever be given for that...

One more proof that to be a hero one needs only be lucky...

The car was moving by itself when it rescued them, but somehow now Ron needs to drive it... who knows why...

Even when petrified, Hermione is the one solving the mystery when Harry finds a paper on basilisks in her hand. When Ginny Weasley is taken into the chamber, both Snape and McGonagall appear satisfied to let Lockhart deal with it ( ok, in theory they have no idea where the chamber is, but what are they doing exactly???)

Harry and Ron run to Lockhart's office, to help him save Ginny, but find him packing. He confesses he did nothing of what he wrote in his books, he just took the memory away from those who did it.

He tries to escape, but Harry and Ron draw their wand at him... they go ask Myrtle how she died, then Harry speaks parseltoungue at the sink at it opens. They threw Lockhart in first, then go down.

They find the huge skin and Lockhart pretends to faint to get Ron's wand and obliviate them, but it backfires on him. Rocks collapse, separating the kids. Lockhart remembers nothing, Ron hits him to shut him up. Harry goes on, speaks parseltongue to open a door with snakes on it and sees Ginny and drops his wand. Tom takes it, Harry still believes he will help until Tom explains he made her do it. He has to literally spell it out for him: I am lord Voldemort is the anagram of Tom Marvolo Riddle.

Harry insists Dumbledore is the greatest wizard, so Fawkes brings him the Hat. Tom calls the basilisk, Harry runs and falls down. Fawkes blinds it, and Tom is so nice to inform him of this fact :lol

Harry keeps running, then he sees the Sword appear inside the hat, then he stabs it inside the mouth, and a tooth hurts him. He takes the bloody tooth and stabs the diary killing memory-Tom. Ginny wakes up, Fawkes cries on Harry's wound closing it. Fawkes flies them all out of there, Ron and Lockhart too.

After telling Ron and Harry that they broke so many school rules they should be expelled, Dumbledore gives them both "special awards for services to the school". Harry tells him he noticed similarities between himself and Tom, and then since Lord Voldemort gave him some of his powers he thinks he should have been in Slytherin, but since Harry asked the hat to put him in Gryffindor, his choice made him different, and only a true Gryffindor could pull the sword out of the hat.

I hate this bit so much, it's like saying that being a Slytherin means being evil, that he is not evil because he is in Gryffindor... (Snape and Pettigrew, people!)

Lucius arrives and Dumbledore explains to him that it was Lord Voldemort through the diary that did it all. Lucius goes away, Harry runs to him to give him back the diary accusing him of giving it to Ginny. Lucius gives the diary to Dobby, who finds a sock in it and is free. Lucius is angry but Dobby defends Harry. Lucius tells Harry that he'll meet his parents' end.

End of school, all the petrified are back, Hermione runs to hug Harry but she only shakes hands with Ron. Ok, they're almost 13 at this point, or maybe they already are, not sure about their birthdays, but it's too soon anyway, the characters don't know yet, it was wrong to make this scene like this, I hate it.

So, school exams are cancelled, Hagrid comes back and there's a standing ovation for him, and it's the end
