Peter is living the life, managing to be Spider man, to keep up with classes and see his girlfriend’s new play, but Harry still hates him because of his father’s death.
Flint Marko is an escaped convict determined to do whatever to find the money to make his daughter healthy again.
Something falls down from the sky and something black follows Peter. He tells May he wants to marry MJ and May gives him her ring.
Harry attacks Peter as the new Goblin and then Peter takes him to a hospital. He’s alive but with some memory loss, so he welcomes Peter like an old friend.
MJ got a not-great review and snaps at Peter for trying to cheer her up by diminishing what happened. She is replaced in the play because her singing was not good enough.
The police think Marko killed uncle Ben. Running away from them he finds himself in the middle of some kind of experiment and becomes sand.
Spider man saves police captain Stacey’s daughter. Stan Lee stops next to him and says “you know, I guess one person can make a difference. Enough said”.
There’s a big celebration in honor of Spider man after he saved her, and he lets the blond girl kiss him upside down while MJ watches. He’s totally drunk on fame.
Sandman attacks an armoured police vehicle and Spiderman fights him.
Peter has everything ready at the restaurant to propose to MJ, but he won’t listen to her, he keeps assuming he knows how she feels, and keeps talking about how Spiderman feels… then they have a fight about Gwen Stacey (who is also in Peter’s class) and she leaves before he proposes.
Captain Stacey tells Peter that Marko was really the one to kill uncle Ben, the robber was just an accomplice. Now Peter can’t think of anything else. The Black stuff covers him while he’s having a nightmare about uncle Ben. Now Spiderman is all black.
To hunt Marko Peter chooses the black costume because it feels more powerful, they fight but as long as he has sand he can come back up… until Peter washes him away with water… Peter maybe realises that the black costume makes him angrier, turns him into something not nice… so he puts it in a box.
May is confused when Peter tells her that Spiderman killed Marko, because she says “Spiderman doesn’t kill people”.
MJ is so down she calls Harry for some cheering up but they end up kissing and she runs away.
Now Harry starts hearing his dad’s voice again and remembers everything…
Harry/Goblin forces MJ to set a meeting with Peter, and she breaks up with him and tells him she’s in love with someone else while Harry watches.
Later, while talking to Harry, Peter learns that she was fired and works now as a singing waitress… then Harry tells him he is the other guy, he’s with MJ.
Feeling so down, Peter wears the black costume and goes to talk to Harry, and attacks him first… it’s a bad fight and Peter tells Harry that his father despised him, was embarrassed, and calls him Little Goblin Jr. He keeps the black costume on all the time now, and has the new guy at the Bugle, Eddie Brock, fired because he faked the picture of Spiderman “showing his true colours”.
The Bugle has to print a retraction now, “Sorry Spidey”.
Peter’s professor analises the specimen Peter gave him and calls to tell him that it “amplifies characteristics of its host, especially aggression”.
Peter gets the “staff job” at the Bugle, and now he wears black clothes, walks like it’s always Saturday night’s fever… and he takes Gwen to where MJ works. He even starts playing the piano and dancing all over the place… hurting Gwen too when she realises it was all a show for MJ.
Peter fights the security guys who want him out of there and ends up hitting MJ too.
Peter struggles to take off the black stuff and throws it away and it latches on Eddie Brock who just prayed for Peter’s death. He finds Flint to form an alliance to kill Spiderman.
Brock abducts MaryJane so Peter takes his old costume again and asks for Harry’s help. Harry is now disfigured after their last fight, and still angry for his father, but Bernard tells him that he cleaned Norman’s wounds and is sure that they came from his own glider.
Spiderman fights Venom and Sandman but they’re strong… everyone looks live on tv as they almost kill Spiderman… until Little Goblin arrives and throws a bomb at Sandman, then they fight together.
Peter tries to tell Eddie to take off the suit, the symbiote, but he won’t.
Harry protects Peter with his life.
Eddie does not want him to destroy the symbiote and joins it and dies with it.
Marko says his daughter was dying, he was scared and needed money and Ben talked to him with an understanding voice, but he had a gun in hand and shot him accidentally. Peter forgives him.
Then there’s the forgiving scene with Harry right before he dies.
