Maria and Fury are investigating a natural disaster caused by a cyclone in Mexico because it was not so natural. The opening credits has “I will always love you” with faces of the Avengers because “over five years ago half of all life in the universe was wiped from existence. But then eight months ago a band of brave heroes brought us back. They called it “The Blip”. Those of us who blipped away came back the same age”.
Spider Man has his new tech suit; aunt May knows he’s Peter, and Happy is flirting with her :)
Journalists talk to him like he’s gonna take over charge of the Avengers, but he doesn’t like that, he only wants to go on his school trip with MJ. Nick Fury keeps calling him but he doesn’t want to answer. He just needs a vacation.
The school trip is to Venice (so there’s Stella Stai as music… I like it, but how did the come to this decision???)
Despite his big plans, Peter never approaches MJ, until she talks to him. I loved this moment so much, MJ is in love with the Italian word Boh and loves saying it :lol:
A big water monster ruins the vacation and wrecks Venice. Peter acts without his suit, with only a pretty mask, and… doesn’t really achieve much in my opinion. He tries hard to help though.
A flying hero attacks the monster, wins and flies away. Mysterio, they call him. Fury waits for him in his hotel room, he also blipped. Fury takes him to meet Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio. He’s from another Earth and explains to them about Elementals. Creatures formed from the elements. They destroyed Beck’s Earth and his family, and now they’re here. He already destroyed three, now there’s the last one, Fire, the strongest, and he’ll be in Prague and they want Peter to help.
So different from last time, Peter doesn’t feel up to it, but Thor is off-world and Dr Strange is unavailable, so…
Peter doesn’t want everyone to understand who he is, he’s really scared of that. Fury pretends to understand, but then moves things so the school trip will go to Prague instead of Paris.
Tony left cool super-high-tech glasses to Peter, with them he has control of Tony’s super ‘computer’.
Fury makes him part of the plan, Mysterio seems to be the one who can understand him.
Peter has the class go to the opera house to keep them inside, and is losing MJ because of hero stuff. When he disappears instead of sitting with her, she goes looking for him, and Betty goes out too, well she wants to see the carnival so Ned has to follow his girlfriend of course.
Fire arrives and wrecks Prague. Fire absorbs stuff around him and becomes bigger and bigger, until it’s too late to stop him, according to Beck and what happened on his world, so with a sort of goodbye to Peter he sacrifices himself to destroy Fire… but he’s not dead after all, and Fury tells him he should join them, and then he tells the same to Peter, to make a choice, was Stark right in making him an Avenger? But Peter is still 16, not 21 like he should be. He gives his Edith-glasses to Beck to be the next Iron Man, he insists despite Beck saying no, but once Beck has the glasses and Peter goes away, everything changes. It was all a ruse, he’s really a man who worked for Stark but felt totally under-appreciated, not at all as he should have been. Stark then fired him for being “unstable” , as he did to other men and women now with him: William created the monsters, Guterman created his backstory, Victoria and Janice and other people, they all worked together to get Edith from Peter and to be listened to.
The school trip is over, so Peter takes a stroll with MJ that night, before going home, but when he wants to talk feelings she thinks he’s gonna confess that he’s Spider Man. He denies it all, but thanks to something she took from the scene, a very advanced projector, Peter understands he made a huge mistake, so he has no time to keep the pretence. He tells MJ everything, puts his new black suit on and goes to Berlin to find Fury.
Beck finds him though, and wants to kill him now that he knows his secret, and throws so many illusions at poor Peter, it’s really confusing.
In the end, he does the same old thing, not making sure he’s dead, he just has a train run him over.
Peter wakes up in the Netherlands, and calls Happy for help.
Happy has faith in him, that helps. Peter configures his own suit on that high-tech plane. The kids are in London, and Beck has his big plan in action. They’re all working to make the biggest threat so Beck can become the biggest hero of Earth, and also kill Peter’s friends who know the truth.
Happy leaves a coded message for Fury. The “Avengers-level threat” is very big and rather cool.
Peter’s Spider-chute is cute too.
Peter ruins Beck’s projections, but Beck still has Edith. It’s a long battle and at the end Peter uses his sixth sense, like he called it before, or Spider-sense as we used to call it, or Peter-tingle like May calls it, and now Happy too because he’s in love with May.
So he avoids all the tricks and illusions and defeats him, looks like Beck’s dead.
MJ runs to him, worried, hugs him and then kisses him. Happy tells Fury Peter is with a girl and will call him :)
They go back home. Ned and Betty broke up. Spidey takes MJ for a fly but she doesn’t like it at all. The end.
After a bit of credits, the visual-ones, it’s back to MJ saying she’s never gonna do that again, then the news on the big screens on buildings announce that an anonymous source sent them a video, showing Mysterio moments before his death: Beck says he was fighting the Elementals but Spider Man attacked him, so it appears now he’s “responsible for the brutal murder of Mysterio, an inter-dimensional warrior who gave his life to protect our planet” : Beck is the greatest superhero and Spidey is a murderer, and also the video shows Beck saying Spiderman’s real name is Peter Parker, and a picture of his is shown.
Really the end now… until the bit at the end :)
After all the credits, we see Maria and Fury are driving somewhere, and all of the sudden they change face, they are green and Fury is actually Talos, and he calls Fury to tell him about things… Fury is in space somewhere among the green people
