There are dementors around Hogwarts. Snape is headmaster. Griphook tells our kids that Snape put a fake sword in Bellatrix’s vault at Gringotts. Griphook agrees to get them into Gringotts at the price of the sword. Ollivander recognises Bellatrix’s wand, and also Draco’s, but his wand has changed allegiance after he ‘defeated’ Draco. Hermione changes into Bellatrix and they go to Gringotts (it was funny to see Bellatrix with a nice, school-girl like expression :D)
Harry imperios the goblin at the bank when he asks to see Bellatrix’s wand (why exactly? they have it. Maybe it’s not safe to use it, but they could show it anyway…)
It’s a long ride down to the vault, there’s a poor dragon chained there. They find the cup but then Griphook leaves and calls security, so they jump on the dragon and free him. Many goblins, included Griphook if I’m not mistaken, died.
Harry has a vision, so he knows he needs something from Ravenclaw. They go to Hogsmead and Aberforth lets them in. He’s bitter about his brother but helps them get into Hogwarts through a secret passage and they meet Neville who tells them he hardly sees Snape at all, it’s the Carrows who are dangerous. They want students to practice crucio on first years. Neville got punished because he refused. Many kids hide with him in the Room of Requirement. Luna suggests what they’re looking for might be the lost diadem of Ravenclaw.
Snape asks everyone if they’ve seen him and he comes forward, yelling at him. The rest of the order is behind him. McGonagall comes forward surprising him, he lowers his wand for a second; Minerva casts at him, but like with Harry Snape only blocks. He does not attack her, instead apparates away (I suppose he can because he’s the headmaster now. Still, when Umbridge was headmistress the school didn’t open the head-office for her… but it does cooperate with Snape…). Now Voldemort speaks to their minds, to hand Harry over and none will be harmed… Pansy shouts to gram him, but all the DA and the Order is with him. McGonagall tells Filch to lead Pansy and all Slytherin students to the Dungeons. Ron has the idea to look for a basilisk fang. The school prepares to fight to give Harry time. Luna runs after Harry and forces him to listen to her, she has the right idea to ask a ghost about the diadem. The Grey Lady, Helena, Rowena’s daughter, is a friend of Luna so she’s really cool and angry at Tom for lying to her and filling it with dark magic. He runs to the Room of Hidden Things.
Ron speaks parseltongue (because Harry talks in his sleep) to get to the Chamber of secrets, and he has Hermione destroy the cup. Then they kiss.
Voldemort’s army gets past Hogwarts shields.
Draco, with Goyle and Blaise for some reason, find Harry in the Room, when he finds the diadem. Draco has his mom’s wand and wants his own back. Ron and Hermione arrive, they fight. Ron screams that Goyle set the place on fire and they run. Huge, dragon like flames, and Goyle can’t stop it. Draco climbs higher, Ron finds brooms. Goyle falls into the fire. Harry comes back for Draco, Ron takes Blaise.
Draco runs away. They stab the diadem and throw it into the fire. Through a vision, Harry knows Nagini is the last horcrux. Lucius asks Voldemort to stop the attack and simply “seek the boy” himself. Then Voldemort asks him: “how can you live with yourself, Lucius?” - “I don’t know”
There’s giants and acromantula too in his army. It looks like a bloodbath.
Hermione stops Fenrir from eating Lavender (she looks dead), still our trio has to run. Voldemort complains to Snape that the elder wand doesn’t truly answer to him, because he thinks it belongs to Snape because he killed Dumbledore. So he has Nagini kill Snape. Harry goes to him, Snape has tears on his face and tells Harry to take them. (tears in the pensieve???)
Voldemort orders his people to retreat and tells Harry to go to him. There’s a bit of calm to collect the dead and injured, and we see Fred died, and so did Remus and Tonks, and many more. Harry watches the memories of Snape meeting Lily and Petunia as children, being in different houses, Snape begging Dumbledore to protect them, Lily talking to baby Harry (how can this be a memory from Snape??? Was he there???)
Snape vowing to protect the boy but with nobody knowing. Albus only having a year to live and asking Severus to do it, to kill him. Albus telling him that Harry is the last horcrux, Snape outraged that Harry was raised so he could die at Voldemort’s hand. Harry sees Snape’s patronus, it was the one which guided him to the sword in the lake. He tells everything to Ron and Hermione, and then he goes, after reminding them to kill the snake. Now that he’s ready to die, the snitch Albus gave him opens and the Resurrection Stone floats out. Mom, dad, Sirius and Remus appear but they can’t touch, only talk. He drops the stone and goes to Voldemort. Hagrid is there, in chains. Voldemort AKs Harry, and Harry meets Albus again. Harry has a choice, go back or go on. Albus repeats that help will always be given to those who ask for it, then changes it a bit: “help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who deserve it” … which is… what does it mean, did those who died not deserve help??? Or that’s not the help he means?
Narcissa goes to Harry without anyone asking, she sees he’s alive and asks about Draco, if he’s alive; Harry nods and she says: “dead”.
Hagrid carries his body while Voldemort and all his people reach Hogwarts. “Harry Potter is dead”, he announces. Lucius and Narcissa call Draco to them, then Neville limps onwards. He makes a speech, very true, about going on and keep fighting, more or less, then shows he has the sword of Gryffindor. Harry jumps down and runs. Narcissa takes Draco away with her, Lucius goes too. (Did they ever look if he was following? I think mom and son just walked away, not caring if Lucius went or not)
Bellatrix casts at Ginny and Molly kills her, disintegrates her. If you’re a girl it’s quite cool her Not-my-daughter!, but still, was she not motivated enough before?
Ron and Hermione try to kill the snake, then Neville comes with the sword and kills it. Harry and Voldemort can feel it, they cross spells again… and then the elder wand floats into Harry’s hand and Voldemort becomes dust. Not clear why.
Harry tells Ron and Hermione about the elder wand being his, then he breaks it in two pieces and throws them away.
19 years later, the terrible epilogue:
Harry with his wife Ginny and three children, Albus is going to Hogwarts for the first time. Draco is there with his wife and child. Not clear if they see each other. Ron and Hermione are there with their two.
Albus Severus is worried he might end up in Slytherin so Harry tells him ‘Severus’ was the bravest man he’s ever known, that it doesn’t matter where he’ll be, but then he ruins it all by telling him that if he wants he can choose, that the hat listens to students.
