Well, it turns out Bella’s super-power is super self-control. Anyway, my opinion on the two lead actors does not change in this movie, bland as always, but the others are not bad.
I didn’t have a big opinion of these movies, this one as well, but the ending is good.
There’s the switch at the end that was played really well, and closing the story with the book pages was very very nice and lovely, and the visual credits were really nice too.
This is a case of a good finale, see? It can happen! And then you kinda forget if there were boring moments or things you didn’t like because the ending leaves you feeling good with it.
Details:
now Bella is a vampire too, strong and fast, but there’s no frenzy in her, they made it sound like she would be a wild beast at first, but she’s exactly like before, only in a sexier dress.
Bella finally sees her daughter, and goes spare when she learns of Jacob’s imprinting, and wants to bully him away but he can’t stay away. So she stops.
The Cullen give the couple a house to stay by themselves, complete with everything already.
They plan to tell Charlie that she died and then go away, but Jacob goes to him and explains to him about werewolves, and tells him that to live Bella had to change. He does this so they don’t have to leave, but they’re not happy about it, the Volturi might be a threat to Charlie now, and she’ll have to control herself with her human father…
The Cullen have to teach her how to play human, now, after only what, two days?
Charlie has to accept that Bella won’t tell him much, but he can see that she’s ok and they let him see their daughter. Bella hugs him no problem, no frenzy at all.
Bella is now the strongest among them. Aro plays nice for now.
Renesmee grows up very, very fast.
Irina goes tell the Volturi about Renesmee, thinking she’s an immortal baby, which I understand is a baby that has been turned and therefore will be a vampire forever in the shape of a baby.
Renesmee is not that, but how can they tell the Volturi this, they have seen Irina’s thoughts, and Irina only saw the child from afar, knows nothing about the pregnancy. They decide to ask all their friends to be witnesses in their favour before the Volturi arrive. They have friends and relatives meet Renesmee so that she can touch them and show them the truth. 18 vampires join them in their home. Now it turns out Bella is a Shield, a powerful defensive power, the reason Edward and Aro could not read her mind.
What Aro wants is Alice and her power of seeing the future, that’s why she left them, with Jasper.
Vladimir and Stefan arrive to fight the Volturi, because they tell them that Aro has done this before, he wants those with powers he likes to join his group. Like Jane and her pain, or Alec and his petrifying-fog.
They train Bella to use her shield to protect others too. She learns quickly to protect Edward.
Bella leaves Renesmee and Jacob who never leaves her at Charlie’s place (how did they explained how fast she grows up? Oh right, Bella doesn’t explain anything, simply tells him he does not need to know…).
She found Alice’s message to her so she goes to meet a man working for them. He gives her documents and tickets to go away, but only for Renesmee and Jacob.
They spend Christmas with Charlie and then they prepare for battle. Jacob and Renesmee are still there, Bella thinks the tickets mean that Renesmee will have a future.
When the Volturi arrive, there’s lots of them. Irina is with them. The wolves join the Cullen.
They have the chance to talk first, and Aro wants proof, so he reads Edward first and then Renesmee touches him. He declares the child half-mortal and half-immortal, she has a beating heart. Irina is killed right there because her accusations were false, and Irina’s sisters go crazy, but the Cullen stop them because if they attack the Volturi, they’re all dead.
Jane gives Edward pain, but Bella shields him. Jane tries with everyone in the group, but they are all shielded by her.
Aro admits no law has been broken by them, but he starts saying that mortals are a danger to them now, with their advancement in technology, and the child is a mystery so they might have a war on their hands anyway… but then Alice and Jasper arrive, with proof that Renesmee won’t be a danger to their race. She lets Aro see.
She understands that he doesn’t really care about that and won’t stop the war anyway, so she signals Bella to send Renesmee away. Jacob runs in wolf form carrying her away.
Alice hits Aro, he orders for her to be taken away. Carlisle runs to get her but Aro himself fights him and takes his head. At that point, all his group run and fight Aro’s people.
They attack Bella because she was shielding Jasper, and then kill him.
They all fight, many die, Bella shields Alice while she tramples everyone in her path between her and Jane. Alice gets her and gives her to the big black wolf to kill. Benjamin breaks the ground so many fall down. Marcus sort of welcomes it and doesn’t fight when he’s killed. Aro goes against Bella and Edward, and fighting together they behead him.
This piece above is what Alice shows Aro, his future if he chooses to fight them. His brother Caiuis says they can’t let the child go, it’s a danger to them, so Edward tells them that Renesmee will be hidden from the human world. Alice found another half-human and half-vampire in Brasil.
He tells them that he became an adult when he was seven and his appearance never changed, so Bella now knows that her child will be a beautiful young woman forever.
Now Aro tells his group that there is no danger and they won’t fight.
Everyone goes their own way.
Alice sees a happy future for them: Renesmee and Jacob together when she’s grown up - quite soon - and Bella and Edward hugging her. Edward probably reads all this in her mind because he smiles.
Bella trained and is able to project her feelings since she met him to him, then she says they have lots of time together, he says eternity and they kiss.
It ends with book pages turning and settling on what I guess are Meyer’s last words of her books “and then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever”.
The faces of all their allies and all the supporting characters are shown in the visual credits with the actor’s name before showing the more important characters.
